Hacking Button Functions

I tried to search for this, but I could not find anything. What I want to do is change the function of the 3 buttons that appear when you start the r4. Currently I have the left one opening games, the middle one oppening ysmenu, and the last is the gba launcher. The middle one I changed with r4sauto, however that wont work with the others. I want to change the left one to moonshell and the right to my ebook reader. Is this possible?

No, unless you desing your own firmware that works with it, it's not possible. But why do you want to change it anyway, when the middle is already moonshell and you can start up an ebook reader from your games

I think it can work.
If R4YSAuto can set it to the middle button, that means you probably can access the other buttons too and set different programs to run under those buttons.
You can try and take the R4YSAuto program apart yourself and find out how it works or ask the creator of R4YSAuto.
