Hi Everyone

First, apologies if this is a repeat post but I did do a search and couldn't find anything to help

I have just been installing the Home Brew Channel and some WADs, etc for the first time and I think it bricked my Wii. Everything worked until I tried to install Midnight Pool and now when the machine is booted, after the initial warning screen, it says "System files are corrupted. Refer to Wii operations Manual" etc. It does not go beyond the screen and I cannot get the main menu system to load. As no doubt you can imagine, I am feeling pretty gutted at the moment! I ejected the SD card I was using, tried putting in a disc, etc, but still no joy. Has anyone any suggestions for me?

Thanks in advance

P.S. It is a modded PAL console - it is SUPPOSED to be a Wiikey but I've never been able to update the firmware on the chip past 1.9b

You should try the bushing fix disc like what he said above. As for your WiiKey...When you've used that, try to update it again and see if it will. Is it able to read the disc, i.e. does the GameCube logo come on the screen?

Where did you get Midnight Pool wad? Your problem is the same with mine. The only way is returning the Wii to where you bought to get it fixed. Autoboot disc won't work.

Another victim of "System files are corrupted" issue. The only way is to send it back to Nintendo to get repair, or replace.

You might not have to send it back. If you still have the twilight hack files on your Wii, you can make an autoboot copy of Zelda and use the twilight hack to run the wad manager to delete the bad wad.

In this case, your Wii won't be able to read any disc. I tried using the Autoboot disc, or made the Autoboot game myself, none of them worked. So the semi brick fix disc won't work, too.
I sent it back to my retailer 3 days ago and still received nothing. You cannot fix it yourself at home. Because you ask for help in this forum, I think that you don't know what to do now. I will give some information later if my Wii is fixed completely.
The Maintainance mode may work, I haven't tried it yet.

give a try with Maintenance mode, may be it may works...

Anyway, no harm to try the autoboot disc, both Zelda and Wad manager autoboot. If nothing can helps, then send back is the only choice here. Dont forget to take out the chip before send back to Nintendo. Or you could pretend that you bought it 2nd hand and dunt know what was installed inside.

I know it doesn't appear to do anything but it may help trying to un-brick a Wii. Who knows, maybe thats why Nintendo put it there. But they never thought we could do it ourselves.

does having your wii modded have anything to do with it? It sounds like you just installed any other ordinary app and it got bricked.

It's been played with, it's supposed to be used in conjunction with a certain maintenance disk. It will not do anything on our Wii's.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the advice and many apologies for not replying sooner - have had friends staying with us. Tried maintenance mode and the autoboot Wad Manager but neither have worked as of yet. The autoboot WAD installer loaded a black screen but did not go any further

Well too bad about the maintenance mode.

Unless someone from Nintendo leaks it I don't see it ever working. Even then if we burn the disc we STILL might need a mod chip.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.

He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.
