Hacking Bricked Nintendo ds PHAT!

Hello.

Tis a bit of a story, but i'll wank on anyway.

When the Nintendo DSi shiped i traded my good old ds lite in.
I Had an ez-flash 3 in 1 fitted for my ds lite.

I Had a phat for ever.
So off comes the case of the 3 in one, then i slot the naked wiring into my ds phat, no case nutting.

It kept coming loose every time a bumped it so everytime i stuck the tweezers in to put it in place.
But when i most recently bumped it, i shorted the chip a bricked my ds.

What its doing:
It will not turn on!
The charge light flashes on then off for a second.
Then. nothing.

I suspect i blew the fuse, or stuffed the battery or fucked up the mother board.

I hope its opt 2 myself, as i can fix it,

Mother is going crazy, any ideas.

I did that to my DS lite on accident. I stuffed a broken DS game in there and it bricked.

very brief flash of charging light upon insertion of charger is the sign that a
blown f2 fuse is likely the culprit. instructions for bridging are here but your better of with a new fuse from digikey or similar
also i suggest electrical tape to prevent future shorts

Well.

Mother is going to ring up nintendo, see what those fagots have to say (Not saying I'm a pirate)

If they do nothing, ill order myself a new battery and if that fails, i'll crack open the ds

You ruined it. You shorted it out. Its fucked.
Its now literally garbage.

I've heard of this happening when the top ribbon cable isn't inserted correctly, might want to check that before fuse.

I ended up with the same problem at one point and thought I had also bricked my DS Phat, there are 2 fuses that can be the culprit to this one both found on the front of the board and on the back, use the guide from gameboymortal's post to find them, I do believe with the fact that your not getting a proper charging light or the battery charging that the culprit would be the F2 fuse but this can be discovered by testing them with a multimeter to find out. Good luck with your repair as you will need a steady hand and some moderate soldering skills to do this.

Well, sorry to bump an old thread.

But i figured if it was already stuffed, it wouldn't hurt if i did a bit of soldering.
I located the fuse to, i wasn't bothered to use a multimeter on the 2 fuses, so i did F2 as its usually the problem.
It took about 30 minutes to get the wire is place and solder it.
Then i turned it on, it was telling me to set the date etc etc like when you get a new ds.

So i went to type my name in, to find that its not making a response to my touches, but the buttons worked all and all.

So i went back in to the ds and found that one of the small ribbon cables under the big one, as not in place.
So i unplugged the big fearing i'd never get it back in.

Slotted the small one back into its place, and plugged the big one back in, to my amazement i actually got it working with touch.
So putting it back together was each enough, yet i have 1 screw and 2 springs left over.

But it does work so i have nothing worry about having to put them back in.
So yep, its working again, and i have a little more electronic knowledge now.

I have to admit, my ds phat gets abused a lot, got it hit by a basketball somehow >_>, drop it in water, drop it on the sidewalk, drop it in coffee at mcdonalds, and drop it down 1 flight stairs, and i have to freaking idea how it survived and i have no idea how that happened. usually it just turns off when an accident happens, but one time, it starting flickering and it acted like it was on sleep mode. but at least i got a dsi just in case

It survived because of something called product quality, which Nintendo has no problems with.
My Gamecube\DSlite\Wii have gone through similar situations, and still work like a charm!

2 springs are for your L and R... might wanna pop those back in if you have any use of those two buttons!

I've jumped my fuses, and have been running my DS (phat) for close to a year with NO fuses, and not a thing is wrong with it... 3 different ds flash cards, and a XROM512 GBA cart... all work flawlessly...
