Hacking Bricked After FTP

Hello!

My friend was on his 3DS that I exploited for him, he went to an FTP app on the home menu to transfer a .cia, then he held the power button down to force shut-off while in the app.

Now he boots into a black screen!

So I told him to restore the NANDmin.bin that I made during the guide, he did that and there is still a black screen when he boots up!

I am kinda worried, as I don't know if it may be a hardware issue. His camera didn't work before this happened either.

What can I do to help him?

Being that he turned off during a copy to his SD card, I can imagine he just corrupted his SD card. Therefore a9lh.bin could be missing/broke. Copy in a new one

Shouldn't he boot into the Home Menu anyway since I put the arm9loaderhax.bin in the CTRNAND? And no, he says he completed the transfer before shutting off. I have no clue what to do here.

One thing is having no arm9loaderhax.bin, another is it being there but not working!
Easy to try by removing the SD though...

It works! Should he just backup all the contents, then format the sd card and replace the arm9loaderhax.bin with a new one?

Yep (to the extent a backup after corruption can be trusted)...

That's what I would do, except I would redownload the arm9loaderhax.bin, just in case it's corrupt.

I know this problem might be resolved, but even though the arm9 is on the CTRNAND, doesn't it still need to read the arm9 files on the SD card?

With the latest version of A9LH, one doesn't need the Luma3DS arm9loaderhax.bin on the SD card anymore if it has been copied to the CTRNAND. If the arm9loaderhax.bin is on both the SD card and the CTRNAND, it will try to load the one on the SD card first. If it's not present on the SD card or there is no SD card, it will load the one on CTRNAND.

nope, but the arm9loaderhax.bin on the SD is given priority, so if its corrupt it will be loaded still (and crash ofc), removing the SD forces it to load the one stored in ctrnand

Go to Section VI - Finalizing setup in the holy guide. You're using FBI to copy arm9loaderhax.bin to the root of your CTRNAND. This will only work with newer versions of A9LH and Luma3DS.
