Hi,

So recently I have installed RXtools on my 3ds xl and decided to update my sysnand from 4.2 to 9.2. I have installed sysupdater on my sysnand and started updating it on rxsysnand which obviously was bad idea. Everything was fine until screens just went black and I couldn't do anything on my console so obviously it's bricked. In my last thread someone told me to make backup of my emunand, since I do not have of my sysnand. I made backup of emunand, so is there any way to fix/unbrick my device with emunand backup? Thanks

Im no guru about this, but I'm pretty sure you'd need your NAND.bin (you Sysnand Backup) and a hard mod to restore your bricked device.

firstly just give recovery mode a shot
The recovery mode (also known as Safe Mode Boot) can be accessed when turning on the Nintendo 3DS while holding A+R+L+Up(DPad).
(this will update you to 10.6, but a working updated console is better than a bricked console, and gives you a extra layer of protection against he next step if you decide 10.6 just isnt good enough for you :P

proceed to get/install a nand mod (if you managed to update on the last step make a functional 10.6 nand backup here as a all else fails alternative)and flash your emunand backup to sysnand, it *should* work fine, but as always there is no guarantee's, but i can personally say i have recovered a couple of console using emunand backups when there was no sysnand backup

Recovery mode unfortunately doesn't work.
well you will need a nand mod then, unfortunately there isn't anyone really offering to do nand mods based in Australia, Ozmodchips does "downgrade/unbricks" which is essentially a temporary nand mod, they could flash your nand backup and return your console to working condition (assuming the emunand dump is good)

unless you can solder it yourself or know someone who can do it for you

Have you ever tried it? It doesn't seems like an hard job, but I do not have these specific card readers. I have card reader in my laptop, is this good enough? Also how can I know if my emmunand dump is good?

yeah dw the 3DS XL isnt too hard to find a compatible reader for, probably like 90% of card readers work, its the n3DS that only works with really specific card readers, as for if your emunand is good, it should be fine, it would only really be bad if you had started installing modded system titles etc that would cause a brick if installed to sysnand.....but i guess most people doing stuff like that would know to make a nand backup

I didn't installed anything on my emunand. Just updated it and installed 2 homebrews in cia format. It worked fine. So there shouldn't be anything worry about?

Ok, thanks a lot. Hopefully i will unbrick it, it would be really shame to lost it. Anyway if I manage to unbrick it, my device will be on the same version as emunand was? In this case 10.6?

yeah, but 10.6 is downgradable anyway if you have a hardmod (you will need CN/oothax though)

but one thing at a time, get it unbricked first then come back and ask for help downgrading

Same thing like unbricking?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

OH crap, forgot to tell one thing. Can it be still unbricked in a case that while turning console on, screens stays black? I do not get any kind of blue screen with error code.

If you get no screens other than black, then its a full brick.

And it can be fixed with hard mod?

Hardmod yes, did you backup your NAND.BIN?

If not, you may need to do recovery and update to 10.6, then do the hardmod.

And If, you can't access the recovery or have a backup of your NAND... 3rd option is to send it to Nintendo to fix.
