Just going to wait until BL3.

Howdy,

So I'm out of ideas, I've Googled and tried everything.

I'm trying to use Gibbed to open my Borderlands 2 save and re-save it as a PC save. This should be possible due to a user creating a fork of Gibbed that support Vita loading, and then subsequently later versions of Gibbed also have a Vita option when selecting to load.

What I've tried:
- Loading a decrypted save from vitasavemgr
- downloading Borderlands from PSN and loading my save back up, but using Vitashell to decrypt
- creating a VPK and installing said VPK to get the decrypted game then doing old method of eboot.bin replacement and accessing savedata0 from FTP (this took a very long time, and I had to try several old versions of vitashell until I found one that still showed savedata0 as an option because apparently it was removed.) I knew this one was a longshot but it was the only thing I had left to try.

All of these results in a Invalid SHA1 hash error or a platform error depending on which Gibbed I'm trying. Not that I really expected the decrypted files to be any different, but who knows if older methods added junk data or something. The originator of the port said their saves loaded fine, but downloading the save from the github vita folder and trying it gave me same error.

Info I've used:
https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comments/568jys/borderlands_2_save_editor_with_vita_support/
https://github.com/BabyPuncher/gibbed-borderlands2-vita
https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comments/50pf8q/tutorial_decrypt_save_data/ (this was the old old method but I figured hey why not as it was linked by the dev)

Please, help

EDIT: It just occurred to me that perhaps there's a game version incompatibility? If the save was generated by a newer patch would that cause a problem? Though that wouldn't account for BabyPuncher's save not loading in their own fork...

EDITagain: I've just tried loading saves exported from version 1.0 and 1.07 (the last patch that could be dumped by Vitamin in order to use the original method of retrieving encrypted saves) and they don't load either. So I guess that's not it.

AFAIK the Vita fork (which was abandoned) still couldn't load Vita saves correctly on the Gibbed tool as the file structure was still different. For all of the posts made at the time, said fork never seemed to work.

Now that we can get decrypted save files easily (IDK why are you using .VPKs and Maidumps, tho...) it should be possible to load them on Gibbed after correctly overcoming the padding Gibbed mentioned on the repo.

Yeah, I mean I guess I assumed it would work or he got it working based on the readme and it's not like he said anywhere 'this doesn't work yet'. He said it could load the Vita but not save it. I just reaaaally would like to play Tiny Tina and get to the higher difficultly levels on PC now that I have a machine capable of running it properly. lol

The _only_ reason I tried the VPK method was as a last resort in troubleshooting to eliminate variables and exhaust all options before I posted requesting help.

I did see the comment about the padding on the one issue, and I see now that the commit that included tentative Vita support was 2 days before that padding comment. Shoot, perhaps this is something that could be figured out with a hex editor? I suppose I'll poke around a bit, not that I have any idea what I'm doing.

Aaaahhhhhhhhhh, sigh

EDIT: Whelp, this is beyond me. I tried finding my exp value and my cash value but couldn't turn up either. I may just be shit out of entire luck.

If you are so eager to play it on PC because of the DLC, why don't you just remake your toon on Gibbed with everything you had on your Vita save. As things are now with Vita saves it's not like you are going to be able to transfer it back to your Vita. At least not yet.

I would just make a new toon on PC and edit everything to match my previous save (or import a PS3 save, if possible). It's not like story progression is restricted on BL2 either, and you can just start the DLC without issues on PC no matter where you are.

Well, that's what I think. Also, drop me a message if you ever want to play online on PC or Vita/PS3/PS4. kek

Yeah, I assumed so, though it's not really viable as Maidumps are simply bad dumps. While not every one of them may present issues, we know for a fact most games aren't properly decrypted (and people usually think otherwise because the Vita runs them).

Well, you are on the right track. We know the Vita usually has saves with different structure compared to the ones on the other platforms from Sony. I've tested games like SAO: HR (for PC and Vita) and their structures are exactly the same on some parts and completely different in others, with additional data that I don't really know what it does.

Probably, with a bit of demand from the community, Gibbed could look into it beyond a little peek at the save. Also, it should be a good idea to post on the repo and make some buzz about it.

Ah yeah, that's a possibility I suppose.... I have not actually look at what Gibbed was capable of tbh, I just wanted a conversion. I wish I had a PS3 to make this infinitely easier, but no regrets buying it and beating it on Vita. It was because it came out in the bundle that I even bought the Vita and I love it.

EDIT: Seems recreating my character from scratch would be an extremely tedious affair, esp without access to the console to see what parts my items are made of. This may be a lost cause as this amount of tedium makes it wholly unappealing to do. Yikes :(

I did post an issue, but I don't expect much in way of any response. Seems this is quite a niche thing I'm after.

EDIT2: Oh well fuck, this may all be for nought anyhow. It seems my completed save is missing entirely, I'm not sure how, it's been so long. I've been so focused on trying to convert my save I didn't even look around in game at all and it seems this save is only about 70% though main story... and god only knows how many sidequests I had done. Well... Fuck. Maybe I'll just wait until BL3 then and fuck it all.
