I have a new 3ds xl 11.6.0-39U and an R4i+ 3ds/ds gold card.

Here's what I've done:

-R4 switch to N
-opened deck's sd via pc
-applied files
-put deck's sd back in
-put r4 in the correct slot (no SD card)
-ran safeB9
-power off
-eject deck sd
-switch boot.firm for luma
-insert deck sd
-run system
-show NAND
-saved
-reboot
-ALL GOOD!!
-turn device off
-deck sd to pc
-install cias as instructed
-create files as instructed
-insert deck sd
-power on deck
-launch download and play
-Rosalina process
-homebrew launched
-install cias
-ran dspi
-pressed b for self-delete and return to home menu
-launch god mode 9
-set state and time
-ran script "setup_ctrnand_luma3ds"
-Message: This will copy luma to your ctrnad allowing for system to work without an SD card. Continue?
-Press A
-Press key sequence to unlock
-Luma copied successfully
-press A
-Then it asks if to relock the write permissions.
-press A for yes

BACKUP SysNAND
-press home
-Scripts
-Back up SysNAND
-Create a back up.
-15 min later
-press A to continue
-eject sd card
-open sd on pc
-copy nandmin_###.bin
-also copied the entire sd card for back up
-reinserted card
-script
-clean up complete successfully
-press start to reboot
-system shut off
-wait 10 min
-press power button
-blue power light comes on then shuts off
-charges deck 4 hours
-press power
-blue power light comes on then shuts off
-press and hold start
-press power
-blue power light comes on then shuts off
-double check steps
-deleted .bin from gm9/out
-press power
-blue power light comes on then shuts off
-place magnet
-press and hold start, select x
-tap power button
-count 9 seconds, blue light stays on
-release all buttons and remove the magnet
-blue light shuts off after a few seconds

This process comes from http://www.r4ids.cn/r4ids-e.htm Any ideas how to save this or am I royally f'ed up.
What happened to the days when we could just put the programs and games on an SD put that SD into the R4, put the R4 card into the deck and it allowed you to play. That's what I need lol.

Resolution:
-ejected sd
-power on as normal
-inserted sd card
-updated luma
-followed on-screen prompts
-reboot deck
-normal
-power down
-waited several min
-press power
-the deck starts as normal
WOOT!! Thank you all for your help. Now to figure out the point of the r4 card now... external storage? We shall see!!

Try following https://3ds.hacks.guide/troubleshooting#black-screen-on-sysnand-boot or maybe redownloading the luma firm.
It wouldn't hurt to backup the SD in case this is a corruption issue.

U can use it to play regular ds games on ur 3ds

And there are flashcarts similar to ds style where just put games on them and play. But they are expensive and not cant do as many things as cfw. So cfw is cheaper and way more options and customization you can do

I'm assuming flash carts don't have anything to do with Berry Allen on a shopping spree... Seriously who titled them flash CARTS, cards I get sort of. I mean then you'd be calling something a flash card and I know computers don't need punch cards to run anymore and that would be a lot of 3x5s to carry lol. You cant call them all r4s cause there is R4 and super cards, and all the knock-off versions, So why not just call them something else like mini externals or tf3ds, I like S3Ds or boom card... Yea lets go with BOOM CARD!! In anyevent, the point is that the term "flash cart" is confusing for noobs and the name itself is very misleading. There are no shopping carts involved!
Alas, I digress, bottom line I have an r4 card, why buy another?

Come on now, you can't be that dense... "Cart" is short for "cartridge".

No, I'm not, I've just been hitting this hard for the last 24 hours with no sleep and was trying to lighten my mood with a joke. Hence the boom card, sort of like boomstick from Army of the Dead. Of course like Joker says "if you have to explain it, it isn't funny!"

I hate when sarcasm goes right over my head, lol. ^^;

It's ok, I've been able to get it completely taken care of. Only two things still remain.
1. I've installed Ultra Sun via a cia, now it says it needs to update. Will allowing it to update work or will there be issues?
2. Now that the R4 card has fulfilled its ntr job, I want to flip the switch and use it to house other roms and emus, can that be done? If so, how?
