Forget that approach. What's a good web host that accepts BBPress or WordPress? How do you properly install it? My FTP upload did not work. All I got was source code when I tried running the install.php file. Is there an auto install?

Any host that allows PHP and MySQL will be able to run wordpress, and any self-respecting paid one will.

As for auto-installs....I haven't been in the hosting game for a while now, so I can't give you the word on that availability.

The problem is most likely that your host doesn't support PHP.

Rydian has a write up about starting a website here: http://gbatemp.net/t276964-how-to-make-your-own-website
I would suggest byethost.com which is what we used for the Ragnarok DS translation, but they recently deleted my site for inactivity and the link to reactivate was dead.

OK. So! I decided to upgrade a little bit to FreeHostia. I got a BBPress forum rolling nice and slick here. The problem is, when I go to my main domain, http://www.gaminghub.org, I only get the directory instead of my root site Gaming Hub hosted by BB Press. How can I get it so when I go to gaminghub.org I get the forum, not the parental directory? THanks again! [IMG]

EDIT: Now I'm tinkering and I got the forum to appear but all I get is this page not found thing.

EDIT 2: Now the forum appears but at http://www.gaminghub.org/bbpress. I want it to appear at www.gaminghub.org. How do i do that? Thanks yet AGAIN.

    EDIT 3: Fixed it! [IMG]

EDIT 4: I need to add forums to it.

EDIT 5: How the heck can I safely merge it with Wordpress?

OK guys, for those of you in web design... I have a few simple goals to reach, and I want your voice on how to get there.

    a) I have successfully established my site's root (at the moment, it's a forum) at http://www.gaminghub.org. What I want to do now is make a BLOG (probably WordPress) the root, and have a forum link like the one on the GBAtemp portal, or the one on the old DSDatabase layout, here: http://www.dsdatabase.org/blog.
b)Using FreeHostia services, how can I make a Word Press rooted blog have a subroot or domain at say sometihng like httq://www.gaminghub.org/forum or something? I want an arrangement like DSDatabase's but maybe better. My ideal site is a main blog that can lead to a forum run by BB Press.
c)Using Wordpress, can I somehow integrate the two together?

Kudos to the person who answers this! [IMG]

You can do a ton of stuff with wordpress, they have a wiki (or just pages?) that can help answer your questions.
