Hacking Black screen when launching from hbc

When i run some apps from the HBC (snes9x, vba, mplayer) the progress bar fills and then it kicks to a black screen and my controller looses sync. I'm running 3.2u, the latest version of HBC and all programs (I have triple checked this). Any ideas why this might be?

Edit: oh and there's no GC memory cards in the slots.

Any USB devices connected, if so take them out.....
also are your folders correct?

The Issue is DVDx, reinstalling fixed everything

I Wonder what Dvdx has anything to do with this...
