Nickjcal of TitanReviews and N4G took the liberty of emailing Activison about whether the Black Ops Servers on PS3 would be shut down or not and here’s the reply email from Activison.

Hello and thank you for contacting Activision Technical Support.

Fortunately, that was just a misunderstanding and a quote from one of our representatives was taken out of context and created a lot of confusion. We can assure you that the Call of Duty: Black Ops servers are not being shut down, and this is a false alarm. We are sorry for any inconvenience or unnecessary worries this may have caused, but as of now, there are absolutely no plans for the servers to be taken down.

Thank you for contacting us, and please feel free to contact us again at 1-800-225-6588 if you have any other problems. We are open 7 days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM PST, or you can visit our website at http://activision.custhelp.com for more troubleshooting tips.

Damn.

Still tho, pull yer shit together Activision. It would have been kinda weird to shut it down anyway..
Calling it "weird" is an understatement.

It would've enraged a lot of people.

You know they could have saved a lot of face by admitting the original CSR was out of line, and would be dealt with accordingly, whether or not they would actually follow through.

Good CSR's are few and far between these days. I'd imagine that they would rather just sweep this under the rug as fast as possible to try and keep their image clean, but in all reality its been tarnished for awhile now and they are living in denial.
