press and hold the control button and then look for the button that says print screen. Then save the image as .jpg or something and upload it onto tinypic.

Did you download the one by 'Unleashed'?
If so, then you there's a big chance the fix wasn't included in it.

Find your portal dir and find a file named 'SteamEmu.ini'
Open it up with notepad and remove all text. Then add this:

Code:
[Options]
SteamAppsDir = ..\
; Used if UseCacheFileSystem = True

UserName = Unleashed
; This will be returned on SteamGetUser.

EmailAddress = [email protected]
; This will be returned on SteamGetCurrentEmailAddress.

Language = english
; Default language, if none is entered will be english.
; This entry can be used if the game is multilanguage!

MountOptionalCache = False
; This will mount optional cache files (Most likely these are low violence gfx)

MountCacheManual = 405
;With this you can manually mount cache files, but you will need the CacheID to mount optional caches.

CurrentAppId = 400 //Portal

SubscribedSubIds = 0, 503 //Steam, Portal Retail

All the help in the world won't get this guy to run portal... he downloaded a Rar'd copy of the game, and the doesn't follow the instructions that came with it... every version of No-Steam Portal comes with a text doc on how to set it up properly. Since the OP can't locate and read that, can't tell anyone what torrent they downloaded, can't tell anyone what files came with it (other than "some BAT"), there is really nothing anyone can do.

To the OP. You need to do one of the following;

Post the exact name of the torrent you got.
Post a screenshot or directory listing of the folder you unzipped.

Until you do either one of those, it'll be like finding a needle in a haystack in the dark. Nothing anyone can do to help you, other than guess.

tbh leave the pirating scene, PC games are the Class 101 of Pirating, there are needs for this sort of work:
7-zip (Just like WinRAR except it's Freeware)
Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120% or MagicDisc (MagicDisc is also Freeware)
Imgburn
Common Sense

Also needed:
Is to know the NAME of the torrent you have downloaded
To know what files you have received
To download from a place which contains comments make a HUGE difference because then you have an insight on the torrent
Knowing what each file types are/ what they do
TO READ THE ENCLOSED .nfo or .txt (If .nfo right click and open with Notepad)

If you don't understand any of that then sorry but this is not the place for you, get someone else to do it for you.

Aw man, it's almost moving to see how people are willing to help this Licardo7 out. I'm afraid though this guy is so noobish it's almost hopeless. I must say you haven't given us much...for instance what game/app did you try to download. And are you serious you NEVER made a screenshot of your desktop? Man, I'm surprised you managed to register on this forum!

Hypocisy

GBATemp will ban your ass for linking anywhere that GIVES you downloads. But so long as you used someone or somewhere else to get the file, they are juuuuuust fine teaching you how to pirate and the processes and programs and hardware required to be a capable and effective pirate.

That's incredible really.

I like it here, I like it just fine.

But if I was Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft, I'd have had this place closed down by sheer brute force a long time ago. By sheer brute force I of course don't mean sending you dumb lawyer written emails, I'd just apply some muscle to the people that GBATemp requires to get online.

The OP clearly doesn't know jack about what they are doing. And they make the forums look like romper room for cheap pirates that don't have a clue.

torrent should be simple are easily piratable cuz tht's what it's mainly for
Download games in rar or exe (better rar) and also programs or dvds in iso and movies in their common format mpg avi etc

sorry for being such a n00b but there's no one to teach me. Forums just tell you stuff and barely even explain what you have to do. I'm like the only one in my school that even knows about this. Only about 4 people (including me) in my school know what a ROM even is. I know, it's shocking o_0. My family and friends don't know any better

Anyway, I'll give you all the info you need but when I get home (I'm in my uncle's now) thanx for telling me how to make a pic of my PC.

The way I learned was by first understanding the basics of using my PCs, using books (as much as I hate to admit it the for Dummies Books were really good starting texts, at least they were back in the early 90s) and then when I mastered that and got interested I could start reading directions for more advanced things (I will say that rather than pirating though, it was mostly to get nocd cracks on games I had already bought, like X-Wing A). It's called a library, use it. If you had done that I promise you'd know what compressed files and executables are.

Because people assume you've learned the basics about how to use your PC. Most of that stuff comes with directions and if you ever have a file extension you don't know you can always google it and get dozens of results.

Walk before you run.

Well everyone learns different.
I knew how to do all this since before 5th grade, but that only because of my friend is like 7 years older then me who I learn from
And lots of free time.

Ok, the name of the file is [PC] Portal [RIP] [dopeman].
It has these files:

-Dopeman system info
-Dopeman Internet shortcut
-PRTL has all the files but the executables won't open.

download 7zip (google it)

unrar PRTL.7z with latest winrar

start with PLAY_PoRTaL.bat

Your PC suks? Start with 'MyPC_SuKS_PoRTaL.bat'

enjoy.

Thanks everybody but I found another torrent that works really well. It runs smoothly during the levels but starts to lag if you get to the elivator. It's a really fun game. Technically it was "How do you run GAMES" not "how do you run portal" But ether way, you guys really helped out a lot.

Well done, thought you'd never get there aha.
To be fair, this kind of thing can be mind-boggling for some. Also, even if you have pirated it, I still think Orange Box is worth buying. It's cheap, faster to download than over torrents (all you have to do is enter your details and credit card number into Steam, click 'Buy' on Orange Box, wait for the download, and away you go).
