Man, I'm core to the core and I can tell you that this game is so poor, non-core, don't make me go on no more that if you play this while looking at the screen you are the most non-core weakling with no gaming skills that can't pay the bills.
I pay the bills cause I got tha core score on the resi-evil floor.

hehe... core

That's funny, but you guys might actually like the word if you understand what it stood for.

I mean core as in the core. It's a word Nintendo has recently been using. It kind of means hardcore but it's a little more general. Basically people that play a lot and play the traditional non-audience expanding games (example: not brain age but metriod).

Their reasoning is to get the market to grow up. The word hardcore has too many nerdy and negative implications these days.

So again, me, as a core gamer, thinks a game for the core audience like Resident Evil should if anything be geared towards that group instead of outwards.

Do you guys think your non-gamer mom will pick up this title? Your grandparents? Yeah, granddad sure as hell can't eat anymore but if he can get food through a tube, why not resident evil 4 through amateur mode? Way to go, capcom.

I just think it would've been smarter if a little amount of that effort had gone to people that might be interested in re-buying the game, that's all.

Edit @ shtonkalot: Nah, all is cool buddy

Glacius0, nice to see you have a sense of humour... or at least pity.

I have heard Nintendo speaking of "core gamers" but every time I do I can't help but feel they mean "ever shrinking profit sector". Further to that I think they (Capcom in this case) used their smarts in regards to their audience and produced it knowing that most "core" (I just can't think of that term as anything but market speak) GC owners that bought RE4 will buy it again whatever they package it as on Wii.
Maybe they also hope to get a bunch of new customers from people that haven't perhaps gotten into RE or even much gaming before but now have a Wii ('cause everyone has one) and are looking for something different on the console.
I have a friend it that position. Casual gamer at most, never owned a console before but now has a Wii and is bored with most of the fairly same and cheaply produced games. I'm sure he'll be very interested to try this though.
Just some more thoughts.

I just can't wait to get a copy and see how it plays.

I feel kind of insulted that they added an even easier difficulty level. Normal was already quite easy for a core gamer, so isn't easy mode enough for the people that aren't that good at these things? I mean, you would only need it to be easier if you're unable to handle the controls, but I'm sure you won't be having much fun if that's the case. I guess every zombie dies in one hit now...

Besides, the wii controls should make aiming easier too...yet again lowering difficulty.

Also, the only place you might get stuck is at a boss...any of which you can kill with a single rocket launcher hit that you can buy at any shop later on.

And having to unlock hard mode yet again is very unfriendly to GC people who wish to play this title for the extra PS2 content and refined controls. If I'd buy the game I'd breeze through normal mode which makes it unworthy to purchase for me.

If anything they should have added a pro difficulty level.

Of course this is my view as a core gamer while the re-release is obviously aimed towards newcomers to the series...

Play Ninja Gaiden on HARD any Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die. Then come talk to us about being "core." You can also add Battletodes for the NES on that list. Till then you are NOT I repeat NOT elite enough to talk about being "core"
Ninja Gaiden on hard has it been done?

Contra 3 on hardest difficulty. Impossible. :/
dang tho, I want this in english.

I'm pretty sure the voice acting is English in the Japanese version of the game as well. Should be perfectly playable with that. However, in case of the previous RE4 games, the Japanese version was missing some gore. Nothing drastic though.
