your overall goal is confusing, are you trying to install luma or play 3ds games? you have to focus on one first then decide on the other.

your first goal should be obtaining CFW

I mentioned the flash cart because it kills 2 birds with 1 stone
A) Allows you to obtain CFW after following the guide I posted above
B) Allows you to play nds/gba roms (non of which I can link too, but you have google)

and the 3ds.hacks.guide has multiple starting points depending on your current FW version, but all of them lead to the same end game.

I want to cfw and play 3ds/DS Games and gba and as much else that’s possible not sure if SNES or nes is available

If you are not in a rush, you can purcahse the flash cart I linked, and follow the guide I linked (in the same post), and you will be

A) on luma (current version)
B) be on the latest software version ( 11.8.0-41U, as of this post)
C) be able to play nds roms ( via the flash cart )
D) able to create your own vc games (via NSUI beta27, google guides)
E) able to play gba oms (via the flash cart, google gbaemu4ds)

Z) almost anything with the system

as @KleinesSinchen said the result is the same (altho the method for play nds games is different since you'll have to look into optional ways to play nds roms on cfw)

Ok nps I have a old r4 ds flash cart would that play the ds roms?

Wat size of GB mirco sc card do I need? To complete the sound hax method of cfw?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

No matter what method you choose, the result is always the same.

Wat firmware will I be on after I complete everything in the soundhax method ?

After installing cfw almost every old R4 clone will work, even it it never worked ion any 3DS firmware. Installing cfw is possible with every micro-SD. You do not need much free space (only some MB). After following the guide you will be on the latest 11.8 firmware - no matter what path you choose.

Any modern micro-SD will work. Some people are using 256GB cards. But keep in mind that cards bigger than 32GB come with the exFAT filesystem which is not usable on the 3DS. You need to format them with FAT32. (Modern) Windows won’t do this by default. If you're using Windows download guiformat. And check any new SD with h2testw.

Yeah I rember doing that on the 128gb in the wii u.
If I go above 32gb could it cause 3ds problems with glitches on CFW or slow down or run prefect like a 32GB? Wats the maximum write/read speed the 3ds can do on sd ?

Bro you are all over the place in this thread....

1. There is no reason to buy a flashcard when you're below 9.2, you can use soundhax.
2. To that end the flashcard may be useful later, if you get another console you want to hack or 100% compatibility with DS games.
3. The size of the SD card DOES matter. Larger cards have slower read/write speeds in the DS, I wouldn't recommend anything above 128GB. Even using those with 32kb cluster sizes causes issues, they should be reformatted to 64kb before use.
4. You don't NEED a flashcard to play DS games. TwilightMenu++ is quite impressive and has about 80% compatibility. There are few games they don't work, or play at full speed but very little.
5. CFW is a WINDOW to do most of the things suggested in this thread. Soundhax/NTRBooT/Frogminer etc are all a different road to the SAME destination. Regardless of which you choose, you'll be able to do everything suggested.

Yeah I used soundhax when it was released, like other hacks it is just an (impressive) entry point to install b9s on your 3DS internal memory.
When it's done, your device will boot on whatever you throw at it, either on an sdcard or the internal NAND.
A flashcart is still interesting, because it can unbrick any 3DS or hack it whatever firmware version is installed. And it can run all of the DS homebrew, which is a infinite world to discover.

have reformat a used 3ds do I need a NNiD before starting the sound hax method and installing CFW? Not sure if it force me to update to lastest firmware? If anyone can confirm if I should do this first or after?

You should be able to check firmware in the system settings menu.
