I have a question why are SLD's industrial only? probably so companies make more when SD/MSD cards fail
SLD's are 10x more expensive, and last 10x more. A regular SD card will get you several thousand writes, while SLD SD's will get you 100's of thousands. Do you need thousands? No, and you definitely don't need 100's of thousands. They are for industries that require SD cards, but don't want to change them out every year with the tons of data they will be reading/writing.

Its the same reason you see people pushing big brooms in Wal-mart that take up the entire aisle. They don't do it because they're better than you. They do it because they probably have 100,000 square feet of floor to sweep, and your little kitchen is probably only 100 square feet. Many things comes in "industrial" variations because companies will use it more often over a longer period of time than "residential" use will.

You want to run with the big boys? Here you go: An 8GB SLC SD card is $270. More than your 3DS.

If you're going to say slc cards are really expensive at least give valid proof...
Yes, it's still expensive, but it's more than half the price of the sd card you sent.

There's also this SD card, but i'm not 100% sure if it's actually an SLC card (if it is, it's more than half the price the above website.). - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dane-Elec-P...F8&qid=1396853304&sr=8-5&keywords=slc+sd+card

I dont know what SLC or MLC is, but I did some research on it. What do you suggest I buy, a MLC or SLC?

dont make it complicated!:P
for gateway just buy a 32gb or 64 gb sandisk class 10!its not very important!and for just emunand 2gb card that comes with system is enough!
for example im using a pny 4gb class 4 and i dont have any problems with it(i use 3dslink)!:yaysp:

1) NAND producers can achieve 260MB/s R/W speed with MLC chips now. So there're no reason to produce more SLC chip SD cards, which has better native R/W speed but 3x production cost than MLC chip, for consumer.
2) Ordinary usages, even as intensive as Digital Camera's continuous shooting, hardly consumed the MLC chip's life span.
