Homebrew Question Best Route For Emulation On Switch

Hey everyone, hope your all having an awesome day. So i want to start up emulation on the switch but need a little guidance as to what direction I should take, whether it's retroarch straight on atmosphere or Lakka.

My preference is any games DS and below, so in short, nintendo DS, n64, gameboy etc
I don't care much for Gamecube and 3DS.

Been hearing some conflicting information that the best DS emulator (melon DS) does not work well on retroarch on atmosphere and that I should be doing Lakka.

I do prefer the preference of having retroarch directly on my homebrew menu in atmosphere but if it can't run DS games, then I'll definitely go to Lakka instead.

Just want to know for my preferences either retroarch on homebrew atmosphere or Lakka if I want DS games and below for emulation,

standalone melonds, i’ve read it’s decent compared to the nascent retroarch core
all the other systems you mention will be served fine with retroarch
