Hi, everyone, I've been a long time lurker and have always tried to accomplish my goals with plenty of research on existing information. I am currently in the process of making my Wii U as much of an All-In-One emulator as possible. I started this to be able to pass down to my son when he's old enough so he can experience all the games i grew up with without the hassle.

My goals for this Wii U are:

RetroArch and all available cores. I am very familiar with RetroArch thanks to my PSVita which is perfectly homebrewed at the moment.
Wii U
Wii
N64
GameCube
NDS
PS1 (this is a loose goal as I have my PS3 which I'll mostly be using for this purpose since it will perform better and it just makes more sense. This would just be a bonus.)

I am researching all the best methods for playing each of these console's backups on my Wii U, but am currently stuck at making a decision for N64. Is Wii64 the best option that I have for highest compatability and performance? If yes, where can i make sure that I get the latest version for Wii U? The Wiki doesnt seem to have anything newer than 2017 at best, but all the original upload dates are actually more like 2010. Any push in the right direction is much appreciated! Thank you!

Homebrew your vwii if you already haven't, and get wii64. It is best

I am trying to avoid homebrewing vWii and just getting everything to run off the Wii U menu (besides RA obviously). I already found a video of a way to install and play Wii64 off the Wii U menu, but I am just trying to make sure this is the best known method (without vWii) to play N64 backups on Wii U and also that I am getting the latest version of Wii64 for Wii U.

The reason I'm trying to avoid vWii is that I dont have a Wiimote and am not sure if I can get past this requirement when booting up vWii.

so you're saying that Wii64 is the best, but do you know where I can find the latest download for it? And is it different running it from Wii U menu than fro vWii?

this may help you.

Thank you!

This is actually the video that I was referring to. I just saw that this was uploaded to YT back in 2017 so I was making sure I have all the latest information and downloads. I do everything very slowly and precisely when I HB systems and setup emulators and just wanted some confirmation on this. I appreciate it!

You may also look into getting NOT64 as well as Rice Wii64.

My configuration is using both plus virtual console injects to get a very good amount of the N64 library up and running.

It took me a while to get it right, I’ll check when I get to my computer where I have all the files to see what program I used.

XBOX360 RGH, PS3, WiiU.

XBOX, PS2, Wii, DC.

XBOX360 = XBOX/XBOX360.

PS3 = PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP.

WiiU = NES/SNES/N64/GB/GBC/GBA/G&W/VB/DS/GC/Wii/WiiU.

Wii = Same as WiiU less N64 Compatibility and no WiiU or DS.

XBOX = Does Quite a Bit of the Above.

PS2 = PS1/PS2.

DC = NEOGEO/NEOGEOCD.

You Cant go wrong with older Consoles they the Best and best of all is a PC and you dont need to break the Bank.

    Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

    The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

    @Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

    They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

    Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
