Homebrew best jp-only 3ds games??

it would be preferred if they had english patches available, but if its something you can play without needing to understand any story, those are very welcome i know taiko no tatsujin is a good one, but i havent been in the actual 3ds community very long, so thats about as far as my knowledge goes with jp games

edit: "best" can also include just ur personal favs obviously

I've greatly enjoyed playing games from Puyo Puyo series on my 3DS.

Gameplay in short - pop 4 blobs on the board and chain the pops to attack your opponent. Has a lot of cool characters to play as and stories to tackle in the series.

There's English patches for Puyo Puyo Tetris (famous for being Switch launch title but was 3DS exclusive at first, has both Puyo Puyo and Tetris, good starting point) and Puyo Puyo Chronicle (a whole ass RPG campaign around popping blobs). There's also yet-to-be translated Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary for the console but it's easy to figure out some menu options and story isn't required to progress.

I personally recommend Dragon Quest Jokers 3 (kinda like Pokemon but DQ universe), MHXX (Generations Ultimate on the Switch if you have it) and EX Troopers (Lost Planet spin off).

All of them has english translations

Third-person shooter, spin-off of the LostPlanet series. Cel shaded with manga-style cutscenes. English translation is mostly comprehensible but the translator, who did this project entirely on their own, is not a native speaker of either English or Japanese.
