as the title asked i use vidcoder to render my videos and I want to know what's the best method in vidcoder to remove grain in the video while still keep the quality ?

thanks

Oh fyi I m encoding Anime I know best settings depend on the content.

Or should I leave the grain in and let the player filter it out, I think kodi has that option?

I don't know vidcoder (which itself is apparently a handbrake frontend, and handbrake is mostly a collection of other tools) enough to say, and removing noise from things is always a fun one (especially trying to do something generic across a whole video, to say nothing of the issue of reencoding multiple times presumably to lossy each time) which I like to play by video, or indeed by scene.

You can try real time removal. Most of them work about as well as the basic attempts which most such programs go in for.

Why do your sources have so much grain anyway?

There is no real way to remove grain without worsening the quality. Else it's After Effects plugins called "remove grain". Just dump properly and encode with less compression.

its Blu-ray Anime from the 80s so that's where grain comes in. its Dragon Ball Z 4:3 aspect ratio 1080P 23.97fps. I can upload a sample file with same as source settings I normally use for most stuff. The Level Sets are as close to the source as possible

based on above what should I use and settings etc

Bump.

DBZ is my all-time fav show so I care about quality and encode time doesn't really matter as long as it doesn't take years of course
