Hi all,
Looking to re buy a DS and was just wondering what the best card for a DS Lite will be?

Im wanting to play all the DS games but I also want to emulate GBA games from my card rather than the GBA slot. From what I have read here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/gbaemu4ds-gba-emulator-for-ds-i-dsi-entry.281715/ it says the r4i gold can run GBA games and DS games.
I have noticed that the R4i gold card is for the 3ds so will this card work on my DS and be able to emulate GBA?

Thanks everyone :)

The only cart that will emulate the GBA games reasonably well is the Supercard DSTWO.

The GBA emulator for other DS carts that you linked does work but not as well or with as high compatibility as the DSTWO.

Thanks for your reply. I was reading that the DSTWO shortens battery life from 6 hours down to about 3. Is this true? That would be an issue for me

Cuts in half might be a stretch, it is a fair knock on top of the already fair knock that most flash carts see.

Back on the original topic yeah the DSTwo is the best option. For something that is almost there in many regards some of the ISMM carts, an OEM iplayer but with the DSTwo loader ported to it, has DSTwo like compatibility (or DStwo like in April 2012), other DStwo style features, a media player and a GBA emulator that is better than the one you linked.
Again it is not as developed as the DSTwo's alternative GBA emulators but it was being sold for a lot less ($14 vs $40 -- http://www.realhotstuff.com/iSmart-MM-Multi-Media_p_40.html , not sure what shipping to the UK will be) so that might be an option if you only want it for DS/DS lite use.

Could I just use an EZ flash IV plugged into my DS for GBA games? and then an R4 in slot 1 for my DS games?

Being an R4 user I was going to recommend getting one of those until I read about you wanting to play GBA titles directly from the card . . . . . . . . . yeah get a DSTWO (damn that hurt to admit :()

yes you can ! you can use ez flash iv in a gba too, and for ds games you can get any slot 1 card, or you can get a "key card" (now it's useless) for play ds games from ez iv, but its useless now since you can just use a r4 clone, or dstwo for load ds games directly

I have been looking further into this DSTWO card and although it does everything I want it to do, I keep reading about people that have problems with it. The problems I have read about are mainly when using it with the 3DS though. Anyone had issues using it with a normal DS/DS Lite/DSI ?

Ok thanks. So to my previous post:

P.S Really appreciate the help all. When I had a DS it was a case of just buy an R4 card. Now there are load of them!

Or you can flash FlashMe onto a DS or DS Lite and run ds games straight from ez iv without additional hardware.

The DSTWO is the best flashcart out there hands down. You can't go wrong with it.
If the price bothers you that much you can go for a R4i Gold 3DS by r4ids.cn and pair it with an EZ Flash 3in1 or IV, which is cheaper nowadays.
