Even ignoring the general lack of quality (even ignoring microtransactions and ads how much would really have flown on the GBA, never mind however much further along this is?) that is always a fun one, and it is often seen for android devs to pay sites to review things (the marketplace is so packed it seems to be the way to get noticed) so you have that to contend with as well. Even heavyweight companies with years of experience in handhelds routinely screw it up (see most of Square Enix's efforts on Android).
For the most part then I would look to find whatever version of something you want to play is the best, see what indy PC games make the jump and go game by game for that one, and then wait for anything to filter out into the mainstream gaming press -- if ever something truly good happens there (which is shockingly rare) then it tends to get spread about and you can go have a look.
