Well a friend of mine wanted to see what first person shooters that android could offer. Is there any notable ones other than n.o.v.a?

Agreed. Go for Nova 1 and MC Sandstorm if your phone isn't so nice. (BTW those games are not available from the Android Market. Gameloft games are only available from their crappy online store http://www.gameloft.com/android-games/top/)

EDIT: Also, Battlefield will be coming to the Xperia Play soon if he is choosing a phone.
