I remember nearly a decade ago playing N64 games full speed on my 450mhz UltraHLE computer with top of the line Voodoo 2 graphics.

Though it had a lot of compatibility issues. That said, a modern 1ghz+ PC with decent graphics (even built in mobo graphics) should be able to play most N64 games full speed. That's what I believe he was referring to.

Yeah N64 emu should run with even the most basic of a modern system. it ran Project 64 full speed on my old AMD Opteron 148, and I think even on my old P4 but I can hardly remember that far back.

One issue that comes to mind though is that all these great but older programs are all single threaded. So say you have a nice powerfull quad core cpu that has 4 low speed cores to make up one very powerfull cpu, for emulation its only using 1 core thus 1/4th of your cpu power.

No sweat though as a quad core even with 1 core is more than fast enough for N64 emu, may need some overclocking for PS2 and up.

A real life example is my laptop with a Q9000 its the "slowest" quad core at only 2.0ghz and it can run full speed on P64

but n64 is baby stuff, even the lowest end CPU's should be able to run it
You must have a different definition of low end than I do.
not really, Pentium III's had no problem with it
P II's had problems with it
and forget about a P1, could barely emulate SNES

as long as your not using a computer from over 10 years ago, should be fine

it's fast but you need a good pc and GFX card.

What rubbish. I was running UltraHLE on my p2 300 with 16mb Voodoo 2 card at full speed in 2000.

Yeah, I was running N64 on my P3 with an old ass integrated intel gfx chipset, at full speed.

The emulators back then were cheating a little bit though. To be 100% compatible with all games will require much more than that.

slowest machine ive used is 400mhz, amd k6-2, i don't know how much RAM but im sure it was virtually none compared to now and a voodoo banshee 16mb card. ultrahle ran great for some games but had to keep the res down. mario64, zelda, and waverace i remember ran pretty well. corn however ran them at perfect speed in a decent resolution but corn was different, static recompiling was good for speed but not for compatibility as corn only play about a dozen or so games. i want to see that baby fly on my q6600 here but it won't run anymore on my system. if someone could implement corn's tactics on emulating the n64 we could see good speed on the wii, but not much more compat than you would find on VC already. i want to play jikkyou pawafuru pro yakyu 4 for n64 on my wii
