That's strange. I never knew "the best ever" included:
randomly cancelling tourists' visas because they can be terrorists,
firing innocent Tibetan-blood people in Beijing just because they're of Tibetan origin,
and yet father of the American Volleyball coach murdered by Chinese,
hosting Government spying on foreigners' activities involving internet access,
causing temporary drought in other areas by artificially making it rain in Beijing to clear out air,
bombs going off in places,
all on or before the second day.

I know there are Olympics threads, but I didn't wanna bring the dark side to people who are enjoying the light side.
The best thing that Olympics brought me so far is a witty commercial from Coka Cola. And possibly a cup featuring Huanhuan from McDonalds.

Nope. I guess the media thinks focusing on actual competetion suits the spirits of Olympics and does them more good. Well at least journalists currently in China can't write anything negative as the Chinese government is monitoring everything.

From what my Socials teacher told me, there have always been some sort of conflict before, and during the Olympics. Therefore, I'd say something like that is to be expected.

Rofl, it's been like this for decades (if not centuries), but because China is hosting the Olympics only now is everybody all up in arms about it

Want to talk about what WAS the best so far? The opening ceremony. Fuck me, that show was absolutely phenomenal, you won't see a show on that scale very often. China turned up the volume to 11 on that one.

It's not just because China is hosting it. It's because previously only a few of such issues were caught on my radar. (Like atheletes getting hurt for political reasons and stuff)

Not too long ago a Canadian model got murdered in China (don't remember whether it was in Beijing). Their police caught and arrested the killer in a surprisingly short time. I find that fishy and such. And didn't take long before I spotted other fishy things.

And I find it unwelcoming that the country hosting an international event is showing unnecessary racism in the name of security.

Protesting in Beijing is plain stupid IMO, but is peaceful protest something that threatens national security and just arresting for?

I found an interesting article.
http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/st...f6-01591d35588c

Opening ceremony fireworks pre-recorded and digitally inserted to the telecast,

Filling empty seats with fake fans to create an illusion that every event is a full house,

The girl in the red dress was lip-syncing; the original singer was rejected because she wasn't pretty.

Watching the competetions is exciting, on the other hand some dirty secrets (some of them aren't secrets anymore, but if there are this many in a couple days that's just the tip of an iceburg) are something else.

Makes me thinks it's no wonder the opening ceremony blew TT's mind - fireworks CG.

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
