Out of sheer curiosity, the idea occurred to me to create a battery pack with USB as an output. The idea being that you plug a standard USB A-male connector (from, say, a USB Fan) into a box with some batteries in. Before I try to make my own, though, I wanted to see if there were any existing products (for comparison or, if cheap enough, alternative purchase) which do this.

Does anyone know of anything that exists? Ideally with the ability to change the output current with a slider or similar...

That seems to be the right sort of thing. Seems to only be available across the pond from me; and I don't think I can see any similar products with USB-A output on any UK vendors... I'll keep looking, but I might just make it myself. Thanks for the link, though.

Interesting. I'll dig out my etching equipment and give it a bash myself. Cheers for the link, myuusmeow - it got the creative juices flowing.

Indeed - I plan on resuscitating my A-Level Electronics skill and designing my own.

If I get round to this (and I really hope I do, given how many unrelated things I plan on doing this holiday) I'll post something in this thread.
