Hahaha.

No.

It doesn't affect the battery life.

Bigger microsd cards (especially jumping from SD to SDHC) are known to cause a drain in battery life (in theory and by testing). However, from what I've heard the drain isn't big enough to warrant jumping from an 8GB card to a 2GB card to save battery life.

Even so, if there actually is a drain (most likely a couple of minutes difference, again this is with a big IF), what RedBaron stated is just a flat-out lie. There is absolutely no way in hell that a larger µSD card can drain the battery life so much and at the same time make the flashcart overheat. I've never heard of this happen, nor has it happened to me, and I own a bunch of µSD cards. A lot of them are 'fakes', too.

Well I've done 2 tests:
one with a DSi and one with DSL, both fully charged, using same DSTwo, same MicroSD and brightness level set to highest possible, using the same GBA game (running 'Metroid - Zero Mission' intro only)

I timed it from the moment I switched on the system on to when it switched itself off

Results.....
  • DSi: 3Hr 30mins
    DSLite: 4Hrs 00mins
According to the info I found
  • DSi battery life @ highest brightness = 3-4Hrs
DSLite battery life @ highest setting = 5-8Hrs
Meaning I had better life on a Dsi (it lasted ~80% of manufacturer's longest possible time) to that of the DSLite (only 50% of manufacturer's maximum possible time)
but I think this COULD be because I had Wifi turned off on the DSi (which you can't do on a DSLite)
