You need to get it chipped or temporarily change your drive with a chipped one and see any of these boots (autoboot anytitledeleter/ autoboot wadmanager/autoboot zelda)

If they boot then you are saved by deleting the misbehaving title... if they don't then you can try savemiifrii or savemii along with the modchip... if that also doesn't work then you are busted.

Help: A device called SaveMii (payment required). Do a search for it here or on google.

Nice words: Cheer up, it can be fixed.

Advise: In the future, only install trusted wads; when testing wads make sure you have brick recovery at hand in the form of starfall.

System menu update for a banner bricked is useless unless Nintendo fix the actual bugs in the System Menu causing banner bricks...

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the correction.
I've edited my post.

Yeah there are a lot. Just get a modchip.
Btw. do you still get the "Press A" on the health and safety screen. If yes, you can fix it with a modchip to 99% without savemii.

What exact response are you getting from your wii?

1. Does it freeze?
2. When exactly does it freeze?
3. Can you see the warning menu?
4. Does it display any error at the press of A button?
5. Are the wiimotes still responsive after the displayed error?

"Well I was able to get the game out of my wii" part means you were able to eject a copy game out of your disc I guess...

Well there are a bunch of people bricked like you recently... I advise you to follow their success stories before making any purchase... They haven't got any yet...
Here you can watch them : http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=115948

You have to buy a chip. There is just no other way. Otherwise no disc will autoboot, even in the rescue menu and you need an autoboot homebrew disc or an autoboot Zelda.
So don't be so cheap.
