What you can try before getting a modchip is boot into maintanance mode. I beliefe its accessed through holding + an - during boot.

YOU DO NOT HAVE A FULL BRICK YET

ok, focus:

A) DON'T do a system update, if you somehow find a way (aka GC pad/SaveMii and retail disc)....3.2 is the best thing to be on, ignore anyone who says to update.

B) you MAY NOT need savemii, but YOU DO NEED A CHIP IF YOU DONT HAVE STARFALL preinstalled

let me repeat....NO there is NO way to do it WITHOUT a CHIP unless YOU HAD STARFALL

all you need in your current situation is likely going to be:

1) chipped drive
2) autoboot burn wadmanager/anytitle deleter disc.

that is it.
do that.
don't try to get on 3.3 or 3.4

if you do, and you don't have TP-hack installed, THEN you are a full brick.

I wouldn't bother, except so many people are giving him advice that will make his situation worse instead of just ignoring him so he'll go read.

He doesn't have Starfall. If you are on 3.2 and have the twilight hack on the system + the needed Starfall patches, then a chip is not needed. Otherwise it is.

right...ALL "SOFTMODDERS" should get on 3.2 and install Starfall and TP-hack

if your whole goal is to avoid buying a chip,

you should absolutely be on 3.2 with starfall and TP-hack

there are no exceptions to that statement.
