It's considered racist to assume fried chicken as a staple in an average black person's diet. Often these stereotypes are shrugged off as archaic, no longer applicable to this day in age. But, speaking as a white man, I assume my personal exposure to such racism is minimal at best compared to a black person. Let's try to be understanding of each other, and also don't eat at fucking Burger Shit because fast food is pink slime poison dogbile.

EDIT: After 43 secs of consideration, I don't think this ad wasn't really bad at all. The fried chicken stereotype does offend people, BUT this ad didn't really push that at all, they are just playing it way safe. But still, never ever eat that shit.

I belive their problem was "AHA! A BLACK PERSON SINGS ABOUT FRIED CHICKEN! RACIST!" which is quite a retarded way of thinking, if not even racist in itself. I believe a black person was chosen to sing a typically "black-ish" soul-like song rather then because chicken was involved.

Assuming that a black person starring in a commercial about a chicken snack is racist is in a way special treatment of black people. The singer apparently had nothing againts starring in it and the inferred "racism" just isn't apparent - it's a freaking tortilla. The exact same commercial would be "okay" if the product had beef filling.

If there's one thing I hate then it's definatelly oversensitivity. They're not showing a family meeting of black people munching on a bucket of greasy cheese, they're showing a soul singer singing about a new tortilla.

I think one reason for the backlash against the ad is the fact that Mary J Blige often sings about very strong issues, very empowering lyrics, etc. And to her fans this might have been a sensitive issue
