Here is the commercial: http://www.ddotomen....rap-commercial/

Here is the news about the ad being pulled: http://www.cbsnews.c...mercial-pulled/

It's considered racist to assume fried chicken as a staple in an average black person's diet. Often these stereotypes are shrugged off as archaic, no longer applicable to this day in age. But, speaking as a white man, I assume my personal exposure to such racism is minimal at best compared to a black person. Let's try to be understanding of each other, and also don't eat at fucking Burger Shit because fast food is pink slime poison dogbile.

EDIT: After 43 secs of consideration, I don't think this ad wasn't really bad at all. The fried chicken stereotype does offend people, BUT this ad didn't really push that at all, they are just playing it way safe. But still, never ever eat that shit.

What I saw in this commercial:
There is a man who wants this new type of fast food
*he asks the cashier to give him one*
Then a woman appears and starts singing about how awesome the thing is.

Alright, I agree that this commercial is crazy, but I fail to see the racism.

How is there anything racist about that? Is it because they didn't only hire white people for the commercial? Lol.

The closest thing to racism about this is people associating this commercial with a stereotype.
I belive their problem was "AHA! A BLACK PERSON SINGS ABOUT FRIED CHICKEN! RACIST!" which is quite a retarded way of thinking, if not even racist in itself. I believe a black person was chosen to sing a typically "black-ish" soul-like song rather then because chicken was involved.

How do they (the accusers) not see the irony of their argument. It's basically, "You shouldn't have hired a black person because that's racist against black people."

That's not what I meant.

Assuming that a black person starring in a commercial about a chicken snack is racist is in a way special treatment of black people. The singer apparently had nothing againts starring in it and the inferred "racism" just isn't apparent - it's a freaking tortilla. The exact same commercial would be "okay" if the product had beef filling.

If there's one thing I hate then it's definatelly oversensitivity. They're not showing a family meeting of black people munching on a bucket of greasy cheese, they're showing a soul singer singing about a new tortilla.

That wasn't aimed at you. It wasn't aimed at anyone. It was a joke.

Seriously, Burger King doesn't now the first thing about casual racism. This is how it's done:

Lazy craftsmanship, I know. I made it, like, 2 years ago and for kicks, so there.

That wasn't aimed at you. It wasn't aimed at anyone. It was a joke.
lol, I thought you wanted to contribute that to the discussion. :P Sorry, typed messages with no emoticons to signify their tone sort of impedes my "joke scanner". ;)

I think one reason for the backlash against the ad is the fact that Mary J Blige often sings about very strong issues, very empowering lyrics, etc. And to her fans this might have been a sensitive issue

Ah, yes. It's racist because chicken is not in her usual repertoire. Other singers usually sing their usual stuff in commercials. :P
