Hello,

I'm totally new to Switch hacking, and I want to know the risks by doing "unauthorized" things.
Like many people, I want to be able to extract/restore savegame data (and only that for now).
But most of the threads I read are too "old", so I would like to know how is it now:

-If I try to manage savegames using "Checkpoint" (or any other tool ?), can I get banned?
-By using/injecting a hack/tool, does it leave traces forever, or can I just manage my savegames and then restore my Switch exactly as before, without any risk?
-I saw that Nintendo have "heard" the issue, and implemented cloud saves, but do you think there will ever be an "official" way to extract savegames?
-If, one day, I want to play hacked games, but only offline, is there a risk?

Thanks, and sorry if my english is bad!

If you're offline, you can't get data out.
Use DNS server or with the SX OS Pro Dongle.
With dongle certain Nintendo servers are locked.
Which one I don't know either.
I am always offline!
And my Switch is otherwise behind TOR at online.

Whatever you do on your Switch it is "possible" for Nintendo to detect it. They can ban you. It's up to you to decide if save management outweighs the possibility of a ban.

Expect that Nintendo knows everything going on in your Switch.

Thanks for your answers, I think I'll wait and hope that Nintendo release an option to do it...

I use exactly same as you do, along with save editing and not banned at all, even on my old Switch before I sold too, so I'm currently on 2nd Switch.

You have to use Atmosphere to open the Checkpoint to backup or restore the save of your choice, also Atmosphere has creport and other to blocking the telemetry, so you will unlikely to be banned because of that. It is likely safe until next firmware update. Use it offline.

If you use Splatoon 2 to play online, so never use save data from previous Switch, someone's save file or edit the save, so you have to start over, otherwise, you could banned from Splatoon 2 alone, or Switch entirely. Edited saves for Pokemon, Diablo 3 and SSBU are discouraged and need to use offline as precaution.

If next firmware update come out so wait for members to report if ban for Atmos/homebrew only go skyrocket and give CFW developers more time to update.

Thanks, in my case it will be to backup my "BOTW" save, and to edit my Super Mario Odyssey save. Is this discouraged too?

Im doing the same thing too but using SX OS pro in stealth mode for backing and restoring save.

Does the switch leave traces for this even in stealth mode?

I was told that SX OS lacked creport and ability to disable eclct, so yes, it is possible to leave traces.

That why you have to use Atmos if you want backing and restoring saves only.

The real answer is we don't know what anything leaves regardless of what cfw you are using. If your going to hack embrace the risks that might come with it. The whole point of stealth mode is to prevent Nintendo from detecting usage of homebrew material or "accidentally" update your games in cfw. But save editing is fine to most games even pokemon aslong its not heavy to online play atleast Splatoon is the only known game to ban you if you choose to unlock everything. If you are using Emunand then you have nothing to worry about

I actually have a question about this. I dont want to use sx os or anything like that. I downloaded a save for the world ends with you to use on my switch still running ofw. Can i get banned for that?

You only get banned if your save is hacked beyond in certain games. Like in Splatoon 2. Hack your save a certain way, you'll get a ban from the game only. And maybe eventually will become a console ban
