Hi to all, I recover backwards compatible ps3 (pal, 60gb, with cobra ode, system 4.50).
one friend clean it and put new thermal paste and I did the hair dryer method, system wasn´t used since 5 years almost and give me ylod, but now it´s working.

yesterday I play a bluray movie till end and worked thru composite cable (saw it in color on my ntsc crt)

cobra ode works with the installed games. but b&w

I want to use it to see movies but also to play games, but I think I must force 480i since my crt doesn´t support 480p (all my consoles work with 480i)

what options I have?

I test a multi av ypbpr cable and no video signal, also a sega hd retrovision cable with playstation adapter, no video, black screen.

Maybe I should take away cobra ode because it´s stuck on 4.50 firmware and if I update the system will not work (I guess).

hen? debug menu? I really don´t know nothing, just read that thru the web

now I see xmb menu in b&w thru composite, screen options only output 576i@50hz but bluray movies in color.

if someone could guide me i appreciate it so much

I'm not sure whether the PS3 supports 480i natively so you might need to use an external HDMI to composite / component converter, and you might also need to pass the signal through an HDMI splitter to get rid of the HDCP protection.

If you want to update your console, you can install Evilnat 4.91 CFW. You don't need to jailbreak again for that, and there's no reason to stay on an old firmware at this point, especially if you watch Blu-Rays.

this is the play 3. I have to use a hairdryer 5 mi on the back bents to turn it on but after that works with no issue. I really don't know what to do. I wanto to force 480i because I use it on a ntsc crt. i read that a cfw 4.84 can change region but If I update cobra ode will not work. now is on Ofw 4.50

Why wouldn't it work?
The only reason you should stay on current firmware is if you have a broken Blu-Ray drive and/or Bluetooth because then any firmware update would brick the console. If that's not the case, currently there's absolutely no reason not to update all the way to 4.91.

it has a cobra ode and I think it only works on firmware 4.50, maybe some newer but need to swap disc with a burned bluray,..If you ask me is making things even more complicated.

the options I see are.

1) leave it as it is, using it only on a hd tv (does not affect pal or ntsc). and maybe buy some cheap slim model for my crt.
2) taking away the cobra ode and update to 4.84 (I read that you can force 480i with cfw)

but with ylod i must use a hair dryer on the back bents mandatory, some say reflow, other change capacitors, after I blow hot air to the back bents for 5 min I leave an entire bluray movie and works perfect.

If someone really know how to install a cfw 4.84 maybe it´s the key,. not only to force 480i, maybe I can get rid of ylod pushing the coolers to the max.
