Hi,

I have a 2.3.0 firmware switch; I am want to use the SX OS to load higher firmware required games. Is there a way to load higher (update nagging) backups like Mario odyssey (which requires 3.0.1) without updating the original switch OS?
What will happen if I tried to load the game anyway? Will it force me to update my firmware? Will I get an update firmware nag?
I prefer staying on 2.3.0 for a cold boot CFW solution in the future.

Thanks!

Yes, that's actually just what this tutorial does except that it also provides a way for you to update without burning fuses: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/

Fuses are used as an anti-downgrade mechanism. When your Switch turns on, it checks the number of fuses burnt with the current firmware you are running. At the bottom of this link, you will find the correct number of fuses per firmware: http://switchbrew.org/index.php?title=Fuses

Anyways, if there are less fuses burnt than the firmware is supposed to have, it burns them to compensate which is a permanent hardware modification done by Nintendo. So if you don't burn fuses when you update by using something that prevents fuses from being burnt (SX OS v1.1+ or Hekate), you can downgrade to your original firmware. Its useful for people who want to go online while keeping a low firmware in case of future softmod-based exploits.
