Hi All
I don’t know if this is old news but I just have been told by Nintendo Australia that in August 12 the 3DS is will be dropping in price to $249 so if you are buying one just wait a few days and get it cheaper

Old news, and you forgot to mention it's 249 AUS, 170 USD.
That what annoys the hell out of me $170Us is $154Au but they are selling them for $249Au, both places have to import them from Japan so the cost of getting them is about the same so why the price difference

I heard that Australia has very high taxes... Not too sure about that

It's only 10% GST, so that's no excuse.
Greed is where it's at.
How about import tax?

On a side note, Singapore's GST is only 7% and our 3DS launch price is also about A$350. Too greedy! Ours is an exact US set!

But now it's much lesser.

There is no import tax only GST

Okay, Nintendo Australia is seriously quite greedy.

But last time I went to Australia I see that electronics are pretty costly. Is it so?

It's just plain and simple "GREED" they just did an investigation into high food prices in Australia and found that people were being over charged an average of 41%
that tells it all

The cost thing is most likely due to Australia being an enormous country, with proportionately far less consumers than the US. It has to cost a lot to get things from one side of Australia to the other, and it requires less of them than the US does which will hike up shipping prices

Sorry no, 90% of the population live in three major cities on the east coast of Australia and the distance between Brisbane and Melbourne is about 1800K or 1100miles with Sydney in the middle so transport is not what is causing the higher prices

But surely the other 10% of people deserve one too?

One BIG Question, Nintendo is not known for their generosity so WHY ARE THEY DROPPING THE PRICE OF THE 3DS SO SOONE AFTER THEY HAVE RELEISETED IT????
