updated on accident because atmosphere allows you to update the firmware while being banned and i didnt know there was a way to turn it off

Atmosphere is not what allows system updates to be downloaded when banned. Unless you are CDN banned which is very rare nowadays, bans normally do not prevent system updates.

Well people who reported to be previously CDN banned have been able to download system updates which makes sense since the only reason people were being CDN banned was to prevent people from abusing CDN downloading. However CDN downloading has been dead for quite some time now so Nintendo has no reason to keep CDN bans especially since new firmware versions always break CFW.
