Hacking at this point... which should I be buying?

I am looking to purchase a psp to hack/soft mod - but from the sounds of it - a ps vita is able to do everything plus more? I know that the entire psp library isn't available on the ps vita (or is it?). Anyone have experience with this and wanna chime in with a recommendation? Do I need to buy both devices? I want to hack the device asap and play my back up collection.

With Henkaku on PS Vita, Adrenaline is installable, which pretty much allows a 1:1 recreation of the PSP - games, homebrew, and even plugins. I haven't come across anything that didn't work on Adrenaline but worked on my PSP, so every PSP game should work. You'll just need to find a Vita on version 3.60, but every PSP is hackable, at least as far as a semi-custom firmware.

wow thanks for the fast reply. And as for the memory card situation, I know that the psp has an adapter to allow for sd cards to be used. does the vita have a similar thing? and if so what size limit does it have if any?

SD2Vita is available for the Vita, they cost about $3-$5 on ebay and work great from my experience. Again, you'll need a 3.60 Vita for it to function. I've only tested up to 64GB and it works.
