My 2000's body is getting rather worn, and the plastic part of the joystick is about to break in half.

...I figure it's time for a new case.

Are there any really good ones?

Most that I have seen leave the system feeling like a cheap mess, and destroy the feel of the buttons.
Are there any that don't do this?

Are there any made of aluminum or something similar?
Dark metallic blue would kick ass.

Type in 'OEM PSP Faceplate' on eBay. I just got an OEM white plate for like 6 bucks. It's a steal.

I'm looking for an entire case, with buttons (not the mechanical part).

I could just look through ebay, but that really doesn't say anything about the quality.

I came here because people have experience and know what is good and what's not.
Thank you though.

edit:
wow. I went to ebay, and faceplate means the whole thing.
I thought it was just the faceplate.

Try me. There's a dude named eguy77 that sells OEM stuff. I just bought from him, got it recently, the system is in working order now. It's pretty sweet.

A very! very! good question.

I recently bought a faceplate from VPGames.com, a white one. I emailed them and they said it was a guaranteed SONY oem product. However, upon arriaval, the faceplate was cracked, had a sticker made in china, and didn't resemble my white oem 100%. Some of the moldings around the LED's were shoddy. However, the button holes were alot more believable.

here is the one I got. http://vpgames.com/p-809-official-white-re...000-series.aspx

As for fit, i don't think anything will be as good as my original. However the original is scratched to hell. however, this was supposed to be original too. As far as cases go, these are much more believable than DealExtreme. However, I don't believe they are 100% oem. However, they do come in the SAME EXACT BOX that DX cases. Coincidence? I think NOT.

reminds me i need to get replacement housing for my psp 1000 one of the screws broke away from the face plate when i dropped it a few weeks ago, and it had to be near the analog so it sorta gets a mind of it's own from time to time.
though it wasn't a 2000 face plate the quality was good lasted about a year or so till i dropped it on concrete.....

the rest of it is really beat up but I'm cheap so i'll probably just get a face plate again like i did last time.
cost about $15 for just the face but i got it from a local game shop so there was no waiting.

I've had 2 replacement housings for my PSP Slim. One was an imitation Monster Hunter design and the other one I'm using now is all clear.

Both were purchased from ebay from the same seller. Some guy from Hawaii, $22 apiece. Anyway, the MH case looked beautiful when first installed. But after a week or so, the paint began to rub and fade off. That sucked big time. After about 3 weeks, I decided to go with the clear one. That way, there wouldn't be any paint to rub off lol. Looked beautiful. After a year or so, the paint faded off a couple of the buttons I use a lot but the case itself is still in wonderful condition. The clear case was also made with a higher quality plastic than the other one.

If you do decide to get a replacement, get a couple screen protectors too. That'll keep the screen looking flawless for a long time.

It would seem that these are DX cases. The clear one *does* have very good reviews over at DX and seems to be the most purchased, and the paint peeling thing has been noted before. I guess if you are going to buy ebay/DX....go with a clear one?

Thanks for the pics! and the help.
Does anyone know if the 4 back screws on the PSP slim are interchangeable, are the same size?
BTW, Hori screen protectors have a 1mm gap on screen.

I'd have to say that I'm pretty impressed w/ the case I got from here:

http://vpgames.com/p-809-official-white-re...000-series.aspx.

While it *may* actually be a DX case in disguise.....its good. Short of ordering one from DX and comparing, I'd say go with one of those. Shipping is cheap too in the US. That purchase was the result of probably over two weeks of SCOURING the internet for OEM cases. My option was that and ebay, and I got beat on ebay. Plus, these ones are brand new, come with multiple films on the front and back. (Two on front, one on back)
Minus the slight crack in the case upon arrival, button feel is pretty darn good to OEM and I can't tell the thing from the real deal. I could definitely tell the difference w/ the ice blue DX one I had previously. That one was garbage really.

Impressive link. First brand new replacement white, i've seen on the net.
However, there also a slew of DX type case that could very well be total junk.
Interesting. Also, shipping from China, which means the long wait.
Last DX order I placed....its been 3 weeks and still waiting. Just not practical for me.
