Well, they say that modchips are undetectable on the Wii but the SMG incident kind of really bothers me as of now, although this had been fix with a little update to their chips. Does anybody know the reason why it didn't work in the first place?

I don't want Nintendo banning my online capabilities specially with good online games probably coming up in the future like Monster Hunter 3 perhaps.

Edit: Oh yea! the wiikey website being down for days is not helping either! Does anybody know what happened to them?

The modchips themselves are still undetectable at the moment. But the new SMG protection can check if the disc is a copy. It does this by performing a check that will give a different result on a copied disc. The updated modchip recognizes this check and will send back the proper response, so that the Wii won't reconignize the copied disc.
