Usually I have some lengthy write up to introduce the subject of an article, but let's just cut to the chase. Virtual reality - people want it, we don't have it, but we could one day. As it turns out, that day may come sooner than we expected.

All up to speed? Sweet, let's get to the good part.

    [IMG]The Escapist

    Holodeck, get holo-wrecked.

As the article notes, the creators have just created a Kickstarter page to fund this dream project. It's $900,000 is quite lofty, but considering the enthusiastic response to the Oculus Rift (another virtual reality/gaming related project), it's not entirely impossible, at least if people can rally behind the campaign.

Personally, I'm pretty excited by this. It looks pretty cool, and could definitely be a great way of interacting with a game world. Seriously, the potential is boundless - I can finally feel the sensation of rain without getting wet or leaving my basement and going outside. It's a dream come true!

    Take that, reality.

Also the even more realistic version, YOLOdeck. Includes a kill switch if you happened to get hit by something!

Eh, sounds like a large vibrating suit to me. Even if it gets made, I doubt it will get much support on dev side. Especially considering it costs almost as much as a console itself.

Looks like an advance version of what someone already tried.

Anyway, what about the other 1/2 of the body? It reminds me of Batman Arkham City.

I did own one of those vibrating seat cushions at one point in time, it worked surprisingly well with carmageddon. If they reckon they could get it to the point where they can simulate something resembling G forces and something resembling weight then they might be getting a substantial chunk of my fun stuff money for the year.

I hope they are wise enough to make and charge properly (which is to say outrageous prices) for a fat bastard version.

Many porn sites will support this feature. But for games itself, I see it applied morre to racing than to FPS. The G force (as FAST6191 said) can be simulated. When you accelerate or reduce speed, it can put a pressure on your chest, back, and on left and right.

you're probably not gonna get that stuff from a suit. Sounds like you're more looking for a chair like this:

I guess one could say that gamers are overstimulated by the idea of a vibration VR suit.

I will never use these to play games...it's like 3D for movies; an experience I don't care for. Next thing they will do is make a REAL MOVIE interaction lmfao..

bah I'd rather a device that sends your consciousness into games (without death if you die in game) though I guess this is a step closer to my wishes.

So if you die in-game, will you get to feel the pain of the character and die in real life? XD

I have no use for it, not really feasible for a predominately JRPG centric player like myself, it's only suitable for FPS and Racing games (I play few racing games and no FPS) although it might be ok for Monster Hunter except that I only play hunting games on handhelds making it a moot point, it looks nice and it seems pretty good
