Has anyone tried this PMP: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2-8-lcd-game-...h-sd-slot-21965 ?

I am considering getting it, cause it's pretty cheap and I wouldn't mind a media player for when I don't want my PSP with me, but I have a few questions if you have ever used one:

1. Does it charge by USB (image of charger looks like it does)?
2. Is video playback at all decent?
3. What games can it play? Can it play GBC games? (And can you delete the games it comes with?)
4. What is the battery life like?
5. What sort of SD card does it take? Micro, Mini, Regular...?

Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions for me.

I am sorry but I have never used one of those. Although, I DO KNOW there are devices like that on DX with reviews, let me look around for a bit...

They all (including your pick) seem to use Micro SD, have support for at least AVI, MP4, MP3, etc.


I would HONESTLY recommend a PSP dude. can emulate like no other handhled at full speed almost all games and it can play just about any filetype with hacks.


you can get a psp 1000 for 50-60, a 2000 for 70-100, and a 3000 for 100-120. a Go for about 80-100.

I would suggest a fully hackable model (1000 or original 2000).

It would only run you double of what you would spend on that Dealextreme device.

Honestly, these devices aren't worth it at all

it sounds good and all, but once you get your hands on one, and just use its interface a little, you'll realize its a waste of money.

mine is exactly the same, literally the same (but orange) and its says MP4 on it

to answer some of the questions

1. doesn't charge by USB, and the battery charger i have is quite well lets just say crap

2. video playback is limited, wouldn't call it decent, but limited to some formats and codecs, but overall it does the job for the price

3. i remember MINE came with a bunch of NES games, half of them didn't work - im pretty sure GBC support MAY be available but dnt push your hopes for good compatibility

4. battery life is ok, but not great, i remember i used to get some 3 hours for JUST music playback.

5. I dnt remember and i have no idea where it is to check (along with GBC support, i believe its back at home at my dorms now), but i just used the built in 2GB it came with - it does say "SD slot" though in the title so i dunno.

Like i said, mine is literally the same thing, but looking at the interface in the pictures on DX that is what you get, and the charger is the exact same. Still i stand by that it isn't worth it .

Schlupi: I already have a PSP, but I don't like to take it out with me always in case I lose it or something. I'm just looking for a cheap, vaguely decent media player.

Maz7006: Thanks for your advice. Bit disappointing about the battery life and charger (I'm in UK, and so charging by USB would be better than a USA charger). Emulation wouldn't be my main interest, I don't have many GBC games (and only one I'd actually bother to emulate). Thanks anyway.

small and cheap or you could go for an older, used ipod or something
