Hacking Anyone know where to get/fix this?

Well, I broke part of my DS's hinge, still openable but it's really rough. I heard there's this protective cover that I can put over my DS to stop it from breaking. If you can help me find what it's called, thanks. Futhermore, my "L" button stuffs up every now and then and if I put my DS under my pillow and sleep on it, it works for 1-2 hours and stops working again. Anyone can help? Thanks

Have you registered it with Nintendo?

If so, you can just call them ...

Hell, I'd just call them anyway ... they are usually pretty decent ...

Also, the L button is the single most common hardware failure on the DS ...

If you get a brand new one, fresh out of the box, you can feel the difference between L & R ...

The cracked hinge is a widespread problem and something to do with the design and moulding... I'm not sure they cover it in the warranty as it's happened to so many units...
Surely someone else here has had it happen also?

Does this happen to the DS Phat or Lite? I just got into the DS & the scene and never heard of this issue before.

If this happens with the DS Lite then I might as well register mines on Nintendo

If you enter your code at the back of your DS it should let you know if it is still under warranty or not. I input my serial number and they would fix my problem and in parenthesis it said NO CHARGE

The link is for your L button problem, couldn't find a link for the cracked hinge, Nintendo probably doesn't have any solution for that.

Hmmm, didn't check the region. You can try this http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/ds...ther&is=s3N but I'm pretty sure it won't provide much help as it takes you to the Australian Nintendo site.

Well, the case is really any case that covers the whole DS and opens with it, such as the Nerf case and the Crystal case. Also, you could always buy a replacement housing from dealextreme.com. I've bought one from them and it was fantastic. The edges around the screen are still the original color, but you can get several different colors and the build quality is fantastic. I think it was as good as the original casing. You need to be careful when replacing the housing though. There are several things that can break and it's possible to lose some parts. If you read through some guides/watch some videos on how to do it before you actually start doing it, you should be fine.

Of course, all this is useless if you're still covered by the warranty. I'm sure there is an Australian version of the link diew sent you.

BTW, all the stuff I mentioned (including the tri-wing screw driver you will need to open the DS can be found at www.dealextreme.com. Free worldwide shipping and plenty of cheap gadget stuff. I do most of my online shopping there.

I got a Hori one from http://play-asia.com on Thursday, ordered it the week before and cost me around £5 with postage lol
I got the clear one so I can put a custom pic under it and pimp out my Lite. I can't find the damn thing on the site now but the item number from my shipping email is #10538061 if thats any help.

I'm actually looking for places where I can get them in Australia since I can't order anything right now. My cousin, she got her DS at JB Hi-Fi with the crystal case ON. I bought mine from EB and since their so cheap, didn't include one.
