The app teaches you to recognize and write both hiragana and katakana characters, even listen to their pronunciation.

a question about Kanjis,
is the kanji's fixed set? i mean, is it possible to write your own name in Kanji or its just fixed 6000 set of words (donno they are single word or sentence).

since my gf was intrested to tattoo my name, so i wanted to check if i can write my name in Kanji, if not, should i write my name in Hiragana or Katakana? since i'm gaijin, i donno if the rule of writing foreign words by Katakana is ok or i should use partially with hiragana or what.

sounds so n00b, i know.

my name btw is Aidin, so would someone help?

Well generally foreign words are written in Katakana, but there are probably ways to write them in Kanji. However kanji is basically one character per word so making your name might mean making an entirely new character...that no one will recognize and will ever recognize.

uhhh because Kanji is the dominant character set in most of Asia (or at least China, Japan, and the Koreas, but really their populations combined make up most of Asia)

"Translating" your name into kanji is weird. Just use katakana. In Japan they only reason to do that is to enter the national registry when you become a citizen (and they might have changed the rules about that so you can use katakana) and to make a name/signature stamp, but even my hanko is in katakana.

Also, India is Asia, India has a lot of people, and they don't use kanji. Between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, I don't know that I'd consider Japan, China, and Korea "most of Asia." AND Koreans don't really use kanji anymore except for legal things as far as I know and the Japanese are definitely moving towards less and less use of it (I was reading some short stories by Natsume Soseki and he uses some kanji that aren't part of the daily use set anymore, for example), though it would be impossible for Japanese to go as far as Korean and not use kanji anymore.

I cant justify $1k+ on a nice ass phone. I can spend that on a 75" tv screen. Why a 6" screen device cost me the same? lol
