It's getting very sickening to me. Now Flashback & the first two Syberia games have been announced as coming to the Switch. Seriously? At the rate they have gone... I'm not so sure I'll ever buy a switch. Not just for a handful of exclusives I would play, that I can count on one hand. Even by the end of 2018 if there were 10 exclusives that I'd play... still not worth such an incredibly small library (outside of ports & indies).

I don't mind the ports. I'm getting games I'd either never played, have played and loved, can't play but want to, or wouldn't have given a second glance, but since it's portable, why not?

The ports are coming, the money will roll in, and we'll reap the benefits with 1st and other 3rd party support. No support is bad support. So long as they keep a majority of the trash/shovelware out, I'm okay with how the Switch is progressing.

Nope. They're bringing games that I never thought about or couldn't play due to not owning the system at the time. To be honest, most new titles are lacking in terms of quality, so I'd rather play something fun that works.

Yeah its a bit... uninspired.

@Subtle Demise good use of the word shovelware, completely agree.

Its awesome to have your favourite games in portable fashion... perhaps it takes time to get better games.

Mario Odyssey was awesome though, until its done.. and there is nothing left to do :( need more forst party IPs.

Keep in mind that hardly anyone owned a Wii U. Nintendo needs to recover from the Wii U flop and one of the best ways to do so is port the great Wii U titles to the Switch while more Switch-exclusives are in production.

Nope, this was to be expected long before the console even launched. Lotta people didn't buy a Wii U so it makes sense.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that these ports are actually great games, but no one was going to buy a console (Wii U) just because it had a few games that they found interesting. I'm very happy with them. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is coming to the Switch. I've always wanted to play it, but it wasn't worth $200-$300 for a Wii U.

And some third parties are lazy, Capcom being a very guilty party. The first party stuff is fine, nobody bought a Wii U.

Porting takes less time than developing. 3rd party folks didn't know if the switch would flop or not, so didn't have anything in the pipes. Expect porting for the next year or two, but then hopefully get some good original stuff in 2019 and 2020. Porting from Wii U makes sense, since it takes less money to do so and it's likely to have a far higher attach rate than Wii U for obvious reasons.

For me, I'm fine with ports as long as they don't suck (lookin' at you rime). It's just a multi-release that got delayed, if that helps any. The pricing is unfortunate, though. I'm just waiting for those used prices on cartridges to go down a bit.

Honestly I'm still hoping for a Wind Waker HD port.
That and a Hyper Light Drifter port, now that Game Maker supports the Switch.

I really don't mind the ports at all to be frank. If I'm not interested in them, I won't buy them. Simple as that.

Were also at the point where we're getting multiplatform ports and collections. The new games are steadily rolling in, and is growing. Just not at the pace that some would like, unfortunately

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.

I live maybe 3 minutes from a Dairy Queen, so I would just go there for ice cream anything anyways. I usually get the Oreo Blizzard, or a Peanut Buster Parfait.
