I did a wire install of picostation on a Japanese pu-8 motherboard I swapped a USA bios chip to, used a microsd to full size adapter for my microsd slot removed the parallel port as it was damaged and placed my slot there with double sided tape. i used megavolt's fork, the RC2 release and here is my install.

I'm Just curious if anyone elss has done this as well or plans to, and what there experience is so far with games loading and micro SD card compatibility too, I only have two micro SD cards it seems to play nice with out of like 14 different cards a 32gb off brand card and a 64gb sandisk one. maybe we can get a little compatibility list going for games and SD cards?

Hello Wolffang,
Just registered on gbatemp to comment on this post.
This looks very nice! I like the idea of using a micro sd adapter as well as the location it was installed.
Cable work also looks pro. What AWG are those cables?
I am planning to mod a couple of pal pu 8 motherboards with pico and wires.
I have two consoles, one is a pu 8 early, my childhood PS1 that has been dead for 20 years.
The other is a friends pal pu 8 late that works but has a problematic cd drive.
I am still in the planning stage but I will get into it soon.
I will update with my progress.
