Super Dimension Fortress Macross
Macross Plus
Macross Frontier
Full Metal Panic
Clannad
Kanon
Great Teacher Onizuka
Bubblegum Crisis
Perfect Blue
Akira

I am a fucking boomer.

:unsure: Your suggestion of Full Metal Panic caught my eye. Will investigate this. Thanks

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the elephant in the room:
Demon Slayer.
Great pacing, no "cringe" shit with old men hanging out with 12 year old big-boobed girls they wanna do filthy things with, just great fights imho.
Demon Slayer is fantastic.
That blonde dickhead is incredibly annoying tho, as well as, although not being an old man, still being super gross about the little girls (you can tell they're children by the eyes apparently).
Also why the fuck was Nezuko only in the latest season for a few seconds?

I just looked this one up, 94 episodes is a big commitment. I am intrigued because this recommendation comes up often around here.

The story was more or less finished from before the manga was being drawn. So it has a lot of hidden details and foreshadowing

Characters are really good, it lacks typical horny fanservice, the story is complex and combines a lot of political meddling combined with action (in a way similar to FMA for example) and with the same comparation it doesn't fear killing characters, both major or side ones

Animation is beautiful and consistent (until the change of studio on the last season, and even then its from Wit Studio to Mappa soooo) and has a good amount of really big spectacle shots

Its probably one of the best pieces of media I have ever seen tbh

Thanks for the write-up. You have to tell me, what's the difference between Wit Studio and Mappa? Are they both good, or is one worse than the other? Different specialties?

Wit is a small studio that basically had to crunch themselves to dead with AOT

As such the designs look of the first three seasons of the anime look quite more simplified and a bit more on the cartoon side

Mappa on the other hand are known for their more "graphic" and sharper type of animation (they did Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, for example).

You can definitely see the difference with the last season of AOT, which granted needed the bigger studio as the final arcs of the anime cover a lot of big moments

I appreciate the information. I had no idea, since I'm only familiar with Studio Ghibli and, I suppose, Sunrise for Cowboy Bebop. At least, those are the only two I can think of on the spot.

A friend recommended ODDTAXI to me and it's probably the first anime I didn't find cringe enough to turn off in the first few minutes, so I'm thinking of giving the medium another chance.

Evern seen Ninja Scroll?

Or...

Akira
Wicked City
Fist of the North Star
Perfect Blue
Golgo 13 - The Professional (That's a must see!!!)
Princess Mononoki (sp?)
Appleseed 1 & 2
X
and for those who are 18 or over (just one of these folks...)

Urotsukidoji II: Legend Of The Demon Womb (the first couple of mins of that film has TERRIBLE VOICE ACTING from the people in the airplane, but if you can get past that, the rest of the voicing is terrific). Fantastic story, plot and characters.

Also, look for the animated SPAWN series that was hosted by HBO. Very good, and Keith David ROCKS as Al Simmons/Spawn.

...and a shitload more. :)

Just be glad I didn't mention anal sanctuary.

For a minute there, I thought you said annual salary...

I used to enjoy My Hero Academia, but then the second half started killing off practically everyone, so I stopped watching that. The first half is still great, though, and very much recommended - just, like, stop once the "Paranormal Liberation Front" comes around. Not worth it, in my book.

I wanted to like Attack on Titan, but they took too fucking long to get season 2 out, and I lost interest. Then I was some spoilers, and lost any hope of finishing it at all.

Demon Slayer is dope as hell, and I'm excited for the 3 movies we're getting to finish it off.

I watched it all back to back spoiler free... and yeah

Really good experience but big commitment and waiting would have made me insane too probably XD

You know what... I watched the first Season when it released, all good, then I waited and watched the second season, no problem. Then they changed studios and released the 3rd season, watched it, all good.
And then finally came "The FINAL season", that I watched, and felt trolled when I realized it is "FINAL" season part 1. That annoyed me to the point I rage quitted the anime and read the whole manga instead, haven't seen any more "FINAL" seasons after that one.

Yeah, I heard MAPPA fucked it up. Which sucks, they did so good with Chainsaw Man.

Initial D and MF Ghost. Even though I'm not a huge car person, I absolutely love them. Maybe because I was already huge into Eurobeat before watching them. MF Ghost S01 opening got to be one of my favorite anime opening.

Jojo and Hunter x Hunter for some good shonen. If you're watching Jojo part 3 just make sure nobody walks in, it has a lot quirky out of context moments (if you know, you know).

If you are looking for ones on the older side then Bubblegum Crisis and Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. Bubblegum has one of the best anime openings ever, it can't get anymore 80s. Disney were accused to plagiarize Nadia for their Atlantis movie, since it shares a lot of similarities (the characters probably the strongest case).

i just finished watching cowboy bebop, holyshit what a fantastic show, it really doesn't have the cringe anime tropes, i honestly don't mind watching animes that has it because it doesn't dictate how good it will be, but man, sometimes im so tired of seeing the same personalities and jokes and little cliches on every show that i watch, im actually here to find new stuff to watch too lol
