Gaming Any Games Like Pokemon

Are there currently any games out there for the ds, similar in some way to pokemon. For example, capture, train, evolve etc?

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker

Same thing as Pokemon, but with Dragon Quest monsters.. and it has 3D graphics!

Digimon World is also kind of same. You degi-evolve them, collect data to make a digimon etc.

But a bit different gameplay than pokemon.

I have to agree and say DQM: Joker. You can also pick up Rocket Slime for very little money these days.

There are plenty as this thread has so far recommended but none will really give you the same charm that a pokemon game does.

You can loosely relate Pins with Pokemon.
But very loosely.

DQM:J does seem to be the closest though. Have fun playing it.

Yup. I read an article about it in Official Nintendo Mag UK and they said it's recommended "if Pokemon isn't your cup of tea"..]

I've played it. I had the guts to battle that huge monster (whose name I don't know) when I got to that island (don't remember the name) in the beginning...I got pwned.

Dragon Quest Monster: Joker is definitely fun. The only reason why I stopped playing it was because I got so pissed off at some of the grammar mistakes I found in the US version. >_>

TWEWY is also fun although, as DeMoN has stated, the gameplay is only slightly similar to that of Pokemon.

Spectrobes and TWEWY is also kinda OK. But if you like pokemon, just stick to pokemon.
You wont find 100% indentical gameplay.

The gymbadge, trainer battles etc. makes pokemon games just...pokemon!

Two games come to mind:

1. Custom Robo Arena - You collect battle robots of all different abilities and fight your way to World Champion. You are always able to upgrade as you gather new guns, cannons, shields, etc. to add to your robots' arsenal.

2. Spectrobes - You are a sort of archeaologist that uncovers fossils that you "grow" into full creatures and battle with.

Both games are very good. Story is better in Spectrobes, but the action and battling is much better in CRA. I still play CRA every once in a while just because the robot battles are so fun.
