Hacking another bricked wii

if you're on the system menu then you should be able to run the hackmii installer again via bannerbomb

basically follow the guides here as if you were modding your wii from scratch.

actually, you should be able to run any number of things via bannerbomb, like a wad manager or perhaps Dop-IOS?

I'm pretty sure the only thing reformatting will do for you is delete all of your save files and channels

appreciate the help guys!!! i think i changed something cuz the preloader needs to be on 249 in order for the system menu to come up , will reinstalling the preloader take care of that?

I must have mised what system menu version you were on... what is it? If you are not on 4.0 or 4.1 and are using preloader .29 then that is where your problem is. Upgrade your Wii to 4.1 if it isn't there. I don't even know why people say to use Waninkoko's updater when there are plenty of guides that tell you exactly how to softmod a virgin 4.1. Just update through Nintendo.

so setting the system menu to boot off IOS 249 worked? that would make sense because it already has the patches preloader needs to load built into it and the installer doesnt have to patch it, but if you reinstall preloader now it should repatch IOS 60 and youll be able to switch back to that thru preloader. Doing that is better anyway as im prety sure under 249 you cant acess your wii settings.

yea I am able to acess the wii menu again by setting the preloader to work from 249 but that is because I thought I missed a step reading the thread (simple mod) someone mentioned using dop ios for 249 so i did that and thats when the mess started. tonite im going to redo it.

thanks again URHERENOW and I am using 4.1u Id prefer to be on 3.2u so hopefully I can still downgrade the firmware..

so I am back to square one..

I have the system menu able to come up with Preloader 0.29 setting to use 249
but still cant install anything, not even a wii format or wii sys update, it pretty much just hangs..

hbc does not load anything, it will also hang after loading..
somehow i screwed up ios 60 or 249.. please help!

Do you have starpatch/starfall installed and CIOScorps by any chance at all?

If so you can do this (even on a softmodded wii i have done this method using zelda twilight prin back in the day)

Providing you have starfall or starpatch installed your wii can "autoboot disks" commercial ones not backups (if you have a chip backup 2 i would imagine but i do not i just have a softmodded corps wii...)

HOLD DOWN Y on the gamecube controller and boot up your wii into "recovery mode" (you should note the screen will be fully black with maybe small FW text in the bottom right corner) recovery menu has NO GUI

Now providing you have them (if not resnt them) you can use an arrey of disks to enable Homebrew from here

and run ANY DOL or ELF you like from a fully bricked console

3.X USERS:
I suggest getting Zelda Twilight Princess for WII and using The Twilight Hack to load up Wad manager or theme flashers or Cios installers ect whatever dol or elf you want from the root of the SD

4.X users:
You can autoboot ether Mario Galaxy and apply the Galaxy Overflow to load a DOL or ELF the same way...Also you can use SmashStack to load a DOL or Elf using Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Not the prettiest method but ive used starfall to load wad manager and remove offending WAD files in the past to fix a brick on a wii that wouldnt load preloader

Since you can get into the system menu, what happens if you try to do an update?
(Ninty will ask you to update if you change your network settings)

Since you say you can get into the system menu loading from IOS249, can you load original games through it? If so, try loading Super Smash Bros. Brawl and using smashstack with the boot.dol of the preloader installer or something and see if that runs.

If that doesn't work, I guess you could try running dop-IOSv7 again or something and having that install the most recent IOS of everything except stub IOS's, then try running the preloader installer again.

And if that doesn't work, try running the hackmii installer and reinstall the HBC (and install bootmii if you don't have it now anyways). Then see if you can still not run anything from the HBC.

I don't really get what you said you did to IOS249, I don't think dop-IOS would have anything that would update IOS249 or something in any way. It USES IOS249 to install whatever it does. So I don't know what you said you did to that, but your system menu seems to run off of it ok so, it shouldn't be really messed up, after you get it fixed you may want to just run the rev14 installer again just to make sure though.

Also don't bother trying to downgrade to 3.2. 4.1 is safer and better in pretty much every aspect, and you can brick yourself even harder trying to downgrade or doing something else dumb in that downgraded state.

Im pretty sure I used DOP IOSv7 the OPPOSITE way that you are suppose to, plus I did it after using the firmware updater 4.1 because games would still not load.

I have the infamous LU39 lol..

After I did that system corrupt screen on bootup, then changed setting in preloader to 249 and menu pops up, but NO loading of any GAMES, APPS, UPDATE, or even the formatt option..lol, i did get the formatt option to work when changing the preloader setting to 12 and royally screwed it, NOW NO HBC

such an idiot.. lol
