i had a idea what if the R4DS Suported GIF images ?

if it did it would be super easy to produce animated buttons and backgrounds !

here is a little test i did it is a animated Rom Selection screen made using gif files

what do you guys think ?

I had the exact same thought a few days ago as well. But I thought that a lot of people might not like that idea so I restrained myself from posting.

I would support it now that I know someone else thought the same thing.

It'll be annoying if it was on infinite loop though, I think only 1 loop is all it needs.

I'd be happy if they fixed the default skin to have the two icons correct (in 1.06b, the games and multimedia icons are wrong, in case anyone is wondering what I'm referring to).

The only "animated" GUI thus far that will allow custom skinning is DS-Xtreme. Those tools will be coming soon. Believe me, I'd love to see every single card offer animation in their menus. Just don't expect it to ever happen with M3DSS/R4. The word, "Simply", should have been the hint.

Yet another reason why open source firmware would be nice! It would take all of twenty minutes to add a GIF library

Oh well.

well i was bored so i decide to put togeather a animated skin to see how it would look using GIFS i think it came out well !

I've always wondered. What does a large drop appearing on a person's face signify? Is it frustration, for some reason? Perhaps because they have a large, unexplained drop on their face?

Having animated screens is a good idea. Don't think it will ever happen as everyone will start complaining about the R4/M3 taking too long to boot.

Use background animation, not animation that requires you to wait till its done before showing the menu. Think animated avitars.

Another way to easly add this is to use flipbook animation. sence BMP's are already supported have the top logo have say this layout.

logo.bmp for non animated and

logo1.bmp
logo2.bmp
logo3.bmp
logo4.bmp
logo5.bmp

and have them show in series then loop? (or make the loop optional?)

It would be cool to be able to have this function. However to rain on the parade i think simple was there plan for this flash card. If you can make your own firmware for this then knock yourself out... I'm pretty sure the file accessibility is actually imbedded on the card it self rather then in the OS firmware you can load up on the micro SD... But hey if this get's done that would be sweet...
