Hacking Animal Crossing Freezing (Multiplayer)

When playing multiplayer on animal crossing (local), the connection drops out mid-game and the blue resetti screen comes up. I have no idea why this is happening as I've tried using a clean rom and it still happens.

I'm using the latest firmware (3.4)
