Gaming animal crossing codes

i dowloaded the new usrcheat.dat file which has the right codes for my game. problem is whenever i bring the cheats up before i play it most of them are blank spaces or are just lines and what looks like japanese symbols. when i open the .dat file on R4CCE it looks fine and none of these strange sybols are there they only appear when i play on my ds.
does any1 have any idea why this is? im sick of getting resseti now -.-

EDIT: its for my R4-SDHC card btw

have you ever download a NEW DATABASE ?
i guess NO?
why not get yourself a new database?

i have downloaded a new database it has nothin to do with that anyway its just how my r4 card reads the codes
