Android Runs on the iPhone!

Lol, it's not that great of a discovery. It runs on HTC WinMobile phones since months.

I presume Android is easily hackable

Well, not really.
Sure, it runs it, but it's just an emulator, that runs next to your windows.

Nope, it's not an emu, it's just that it's still not stable enough to be safely installed onto ROM.

So, for safety reason, you have to run it from a bootstrapper from WinMo. After that, it gets full control of the phone.

But if you reset it, the BootRom will load WinMobile, since it was untouched.

Android is also open source too. I think Symbian was forced to turn open source due to using some Android gui code... Just guessing though..

It is a shame that it will only work on the iPhone. I doubt it will ever work on the iPod Touch MC models or the iPhone 3G because off the tethered jailbreak. Also I think you will need iPhone OS2 for this because you need to pwn4life and pwn4life isn't for the iPhone OS3

I mean, if you want android, there are LOTS of cheaper solutions, and much more choice in phones..

This is great news! I like my iPod touch, but it's simply too closed for me. Having Android as an alternative would be great!

Uh oh...this is sure going to piss off Apple AND Google.

Google will be very happy about this. They wanted Android to be ported to as many places as possible.

It's one of the original philosophies of Android. Google would much rather have iPhones running Android than iPhones running Apple's OS.

It might do me well to write a cpufreq patch for the iPhone Android port, but I don't have an iPhone.

In any case, if ported, the 3GS would be able to run Android at least as smoothly as the Droid, if optimized well. The original iPhone will probably perform better than the G1/myTouch (as indicated by a Google employee a long time ago on IRC, the hardware of these Android phones have a lot of bottlenecks besides processor speed, and as such are a lot slower than the iPhone/3G). Once drivers are written for bluetooth, accelerated opengl, etc. this will be a nice port and contribute to Android's domination.

Hmm.. This seems great, but I don't have any type of cell phone or apple products, so this doesn't pertain to me AT ALL until apple products become cheap.
