The Twitter/Facebook method looks very slow for me. This is my other idea: spoof a location and add friends by the option face-to-face.
Something like this:
1. Activate mock locations on Android dev settings.
2. Download any GPS faker from Google Play and set anyone the same location.
3. Profit?
